The MontcoWorks NOW program is a service of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit and our mission is to strive to help youth and young adults create a better path for their future by developing important skills and providing real-world workforce experiences. We aim to support our participants by alleviating barriers and working towards their career and educational goals, empowering them to become leaders within their communities.

MontcoWorks NOW is federally funded through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) and serves 14–24-year-olds in Montgomery County. As an eligibility-based program, we provide eligible in-school and out-of-school students with services such as: paid work experiences, job shadows, various occupational skills training programs for in-demand industry sectors, leadership development opportunities, supportive and case management

services, industry tours, connections to pre-apprenticeships and apprenticeships, and more.

Our program is looking to expand partnerships with businesses in the county for paid work experiences, job shadows and industry tours. Paid work experiences are funded through MontcoWorks NOW and are NO COST for an organization to participate in; our program compensates participants up to $15.00/hour for 600 total hours maximum and provides worker’s compensation coverage. Business partners interview participants as they would for a direct hire, and have the support of the program staff throughout the course of the

paid work experience should questions or concerns arise. In addition, please consider hosting a participant for ½ a day or 1 full day for a job shadow to allow a young adult to see what an industry is like first hand, or host a small group of participants and staff for a 1-2 hour tour of your organization. If you’re interested, please reach out to Sara Hudson.

Lastly, if you know a 14-24 year old Montgomery County resident who may be interested in our services, please have them reach out to MontcoWorksNOW to participate in an information session on Zoom.

Opportunity to Showcase YOUR Business!

The Chamber Showcase, a contribution-based feature that is shared via the Chamber website, emails, and social media channels. Please submit an article and photo(s) that highlights your employees, a milestone, or sharing your expertise on an industry topic. Our goal is to publish this column on a regular basis (bi-weekly or monthly, depending on the content we receive), so the more member businesses and organizations that send us material, the better.

We look forward to you participating in the project and helping us to promote you.
