A Note from our Executive Director
Dear friend,
IVYP is becoming LEAP: Learn. Engage. Advocate. Partner. Although our name change won’t be official for a few more months, I’m so excited to share this news and let you know where we’re going.
Why did we decide to change our name? There are a few good reasons why an organization would change its name: if the old name is holding it back, if the organization has expanded its services or mission, or if they are experiencing name confusion. Each of those reasons applies to IVYP.
I am so proud of IVYP’s history and our roots in Isla Vista. Our commitment to social justice and to meeting the needs of children and families will continue to be central to our mission and our identity. That will never change. In fact, our goal is to extend this mission even farther. In addition to the Isla Vista community, we support children and families in Goleta, Santa Barbara, and beyond. Since we opened our diaper bank and moved our immigration webinars and parenting classes on-line, we began to serve clients in Lompoc, Santa Maria, and across the county. Changing our name to LEAP enables us to focus deeply on our unique strengths and allows us to bring those strengths wherever they are needed.
Right now, we are working on updating our logo, our website, and doing all the paperwork to become LEAP. I look forward to sharing our progress with you. For now, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
How do you see our new name, LEAP helping us to create positive change in the communities we serve? Please feel free to respond to this email or email me directly by clicking here.

Harvest of the Month
Sweet potatoes are not only delicious, but they are also incredibly good for you! These root vegetables are a rich source of fiber, which can help promote healthy digestion and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. They are also packed with vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin A, vitamin C, and potassium, which are essential for growth and development. Plus, there are so many fun and tasty ways to prepare sweet potatoes- you can bake them, boil them, mash them, and even make sweet potato fries! This recipe only requires six ingredients and approximately 40 minutes of your time- making it a perfect addition to healthy dinners.

Be a diaper champion by sponsoring the cost of diapers for local families. Diapers are one of the most consistent requests from our families at our FRC. Disposable diapers can cost as much as $100 per month per baby so every contribution makes a big difference.
