See our Board Members and Volunteers

thanksgiving-png-1 image

Hi, Ladies,

My predecessors have had to deliver bad news along with the good, and now it is my turn. Our membership is significantly lower than it was even one year ago. We depend on dues to pay rent to St. Paul’s, underwrite our most popular programs (NYC bus trips, birthday parties, the holiday party, tours), provide coffee and snacks, etc. At our current membership level, it will be difficult to sustain these activities. If you know someone who has not renewed, please encourage them to recommit to IWC. A few of our members have brought friends to our group! We need your help.

On the good news front, we had the very successful return of the gourmet lunches at IWC. The Cuisine Team put together the “sold out” Mediterranean luncheon. The Birthday Team hosted the first celebration of the year with a glitzy, glamourous throwback to the 1970s. Yoga has returned, the Arts and Crafts Bazaar was a big success, After 5 is as popular as ever, and we are introducing monthly snacks from our member nations. Members enjoyed Indian desserts in October. The Holiday Party is already in the works and our Membership Team is planning Holiday Coffees. Most exciting of all, we hope to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the founding of IWC in September 2023! Again, we depend on you, our loyal members, to keep this wonderful organization started by three remarkable women going forward and meeting the needs of our diverse membership.

Asha,

Your President

Updated COVID Safety Guidelines

Face Coverings Optional

With the updated CDC guidelines, the IWC Board has decided to remove the mask mandate for in-person events.

It is still recommended to wear a face covering at the club, but it is no longer mandatory.

All members are required to be fully vaccinated. New members should bring proof of vaccination to their first in-person IWC event, so that we can record it for future reference. Returning members should also bring proof of vaccination, in the event we do not have accurate information. For members who are unable to provide proof of vaccination, membership will be suspended until proof can be provided (exceptions will not be accepted).

Bringing Back Coffee

Enjoy coffee when you drop by IWC for events and classes! We will provide both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee and hot water for tea at the kitchen window counter.

BYOC - As part of our initiative to be more supportive to the environment, please remember to bring your own cup!

After 5

Thursday, November 10

5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

at Redfire Grill and Steakhouse

400 Lantana DR, Hockessin, DE 19707

After 5 was created as an alternative to the morning coffee meetings, for women who work or who are not able to attend morning activities. Our After 5 gatherings have become another opportunity for all members to gather for fun, food, and drinks at local restaurants. The whole point of our girls' night out is to relax with your girlfriends, let your worries go, and have a fun-filled evening with the VIP women in your life.

As we did last year, we will meet the second Thursday of every month, at 5 p.m., at a restaurant for our happy hour. It is important that the organizers know who will be attending ahead of time, to assure that we have seats for everyone.

If you are interested in participating, please send an email to one of the After-5 coordinators,

Debbie Cimorosi ([email protected]) or Patty Pfeifer ([email protected]), so that they can include you on the After-5 emailing list. And be sure to tell them when you are going to be attending each month, so we have seats reserved for everyone.

Monday, November 14, 2022

from 8:30 a.m. - ca. 3 p.m.

The Fabulous, Fabulous

"Barnes Foundation"

Our privately guided tour is scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Cost: $31.- per member, $33.- per guest

Please bring $8.- gasoline and parking expenses.

Meeting time: 8:30 a.m. (meet to carpool)

Lunch: On our own at the Garden Restaurant or Coffee Bar. Of course, you are free to bring your own lunch, or have lunch at a place nearby.

Our tour: Much has been said and printed about the famous Barnes Foundation. Dr. Barnes - rich, obstinate, contemptuous, and eccentric was able to amass this incredible collection within his lifetime. Celebrated for its exceptional breadth, depth and quality, it houses the largest collection of French impressionists outside of France, exemplary works by European and American masters, folk art, African sculpture, Pennsylvania German decorative arts, Native American Textiles, metalwork, and much more. After years of conflict and controversy (watch the movie “The Art of the Steal”) the collection was moved from Merion, PA, to its current building and location on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, in May of 2012.

The Barnes also has a special exhibit, Modigliani: Up Close. Experience a deep dive into Amedeo Modigliani as you enjoy over 50 of his works. This exhibit is included in our ticket price.

Note: A docent will be assigned for every 8 to 10 visitors.

Sign-up Deadline: Thursday, November 3, 2022.
