"Uniting Our Power"
IWL has always been a place where leaders from different companies, backgrounds, races, genders and perspectives come together to focus on our individual development, but also on our shared challenges and opportunities in pursuit of better, more sustainable solutions. This year's IWL conference is focused on how we can unite the power of the many who show up, speak up and stand tall to advance the inclusion conversation in our companies, our homes and in our communities.
Join 1,400+ women and men in Uniting Our Power on September 16 - and bring your team!
PLUS an interactive session from the mainstage on "Gender Bias in the Workplace"
Stories will be told from the stage that stimulate interactive dialogue to facilitate learning around common gender biases in the workplace and how to overcome them.
We're planning on other fun surprises and interactive elements from the mainstage that attendees will participate in to deepen the learning and connections gained. You don't want to miss this powerful day!
"My IWL Impact Story: Reflecting On A Life-Changing 'Last'"
By Margaret Geist, Former IWL Intern
To celebrate our 10th year as an organization, we are sharing some of the incredible stories that we've heard from people whose lives and leadership journeys have been positively impacted by IWL Foundation. Margaret Geist, IWL's spring Marketing and Communications Intern, worked alongside the rest of the team to create, promote, and celebrate the successful IWL Louisville Women's Leadership Conference in April. Margaret graduated from Butler University in May and has a lifetime of success ahead of her. Hear from Margaret on how her internship experience at IWL had an impact on her as a student, an intern, and a woman.
The IWL team - Kim Graham Lee, Anna Rauh, Margaret Geist, and Katie Sheets - at the IWL Louisville Conference on April 25, 2019.
As part of her role as Marketing and Communications Intern, Margaret ran the IWL booth at the conference in Louisville, where she enjoyed connecting with lots of passionate women leaders.
"It seems fitting that I concluded the college chapter with such an impactful experience... Working for a company founded by women and for women is something that, once experienced, will probably be something I look for in all future endeavors. I will miss lunches with the team and discussions that involved exchanges of praise, words of wisdom, and a trust that made me feel incredibly empowered."
Planning is already underway for the 6th Annual IWL Louisville Women's Leadership Conference, and we hope to see you there - with the same energy that we saw on April 25.
Catch one of our favorite moments of the day in this 3-minute clip from the mainstage, featuring Humana Senior Diversity and Inclusion Leader, Diane Bailey-Boulet, demonstrating the power of "Your Voice" in front of the sold-out audience.
In the meantime, join us in Indy on September 16 for plenty of interactive moments like this, with a whole new program and speaker lineup! Bring your team and enjoy a weekend in Indy along with a day of "Uniting Our Power"

Nominate a Bold and Fearless Woman for the
2019 Christi Anderson Personal Innovation Award
August 2 Deadline to Nominate
Christi Anderson was one of the first board members for IWL, as well as a mentor, a friend, an advocate for women's leadership, a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and attorney.
Christi was passionate about helping other women in leadership, and we honor Christi by awarding a scholarship every year to a woman who is looking to innovate herself, to be better and do better - just like Christi did, and who could benefit from the financial assistance to do so.
It is our hope that this award will create opportunities for these young women and inspire them to lead their lives boldly and fearlessly and with the tenacity of our dear friend, Christi. If you know a bold and innovative woman who deserves this year's award, please nominate her by August 2. Donations can also be made to the scholarship fund.
We will be announcing the winner on the mainstage at the 10th Annual IWL Conference in Indianapolis on September 16!
In last month's newsletter, we encouraged you to "take off against the wind" to take flight toward your goals. Coach Dar inspired us to do that, as she closed the 2019 Louisville conference in late April. This month we're focusing on the message from another one of our Louisville keynote speakers, Dr. Neeli Bendapudi, president of the University of Louisville. Her message was
Own Your Values. We see a lot of conflict in the world around us, and it's easy to get dragged down in the negativity and comparison. Dr. Bendapudi taught us that to be a good leader you have to know your values and stick to them.
Just like your company has a mission and values to guide it, we challenge you to write your own personal mission statement and core values. Once you write them down, hang them somewhere you'll see them every day.Use this as a reminder that no matter what path others are taking, you've got your own compass showing you the way. When you can articulate where you're headed with confidence, others will follow.
Owning your values is the first step toward leading a life you love!
Thank you to our 2019 Conference Sponsors... and there's still an opportunity to join!
