Lessons Learned from Our First Joint Networking Event in Louisville
Male Allies Talk Women's Leadership
Last week, we teamed up with Women Influencing Louisville (WIL) for our first-ever Louisville networking event. It was powerful to hear from our male panel on their impactful and very personal perspectives on engaging male allies. Given the audience interaction, we are pleased that attendees took away some valuable lessons from it as well:
- Organizations need to be INTENTIONAL about education and efforts to address gender equity.
- Men need to recognize their "privilege" and be willing to help those "less privileged."
- Women should trust and seek out a male ally/sponsor.
- Women should speak up to educate and help hold their male counterparts accountable.
An inspirational nugget came from the last audience comment, challenging us to
"live out loud." Don't try to fit a mold that doesn't let your natural strengths shine.
Our very own Kim Graham Lee had the pleasure of facilitating this great discussion with our panelists:
CEO, Norton Healthcare
Enterprise Vice President of IT Administration, Humana
New Product SWAT Manager, North America, Brown-Forman
These men truly fit the definition of male allies - by actively engaging in initiatives to reduce gender disparities in their companies, making it a priority to mentor women, and committing to stand up for women even when there isn't one in the room.
Thanks again to WIL for co-hosting this event with us, and we look forward to more networking events in Louisville!
Thanks to all who attended the 8th Annual
IWL Indianapolis Conference
From Inspiration To Impact

#FromInspirationToImpact by attending the IWL Women's Leadership Conference. It was a powerful day and attendees walked away with tangible tools and connections for growth. Now we want you to
take inspiration from the speakers and sessions, and more importantly,
do something with it.
We now challenge you to take one of the lessons learned from the conference and integrate it into your personal or professional life. It could be testing a new negotiation tactic, using grit to accomplish your goals, or activating a male ally.
Whatever you choose, decide to make an impact for yourself today.

Our theme for October is
When women make it to senior leadership positions, there is a
perception that she may view women coming up the ranks behind her as
competitors. When we advocate for each other, we build a culture that values women in leadership positions.
What can you do this month to create a culture where women can support and uplift other women? If you have a mentee, take some time to see how she's doing, and ask what you can do this month to help her. If you don't have one, consider finding someone to build that relationship with.
We can't wait to see the results of women helping women this year!
