The larger-than-life cow statue at our tour center is a signal to visitors that they're in the right place. Real-life cow Applebees, on her way back to the barn after a summer fun video shoot, was a bit puzzled to see a cow much bigger than she is.
At 9 years old, Applebees is one of our older cows and has played a starring role in a number of videos around the farm. See a few more of Applebees' Oscar-worthy performances here, here and here. |

Summer tour season is in full swing and reservations are filling up fast!
Get the full farm experience during our Hands-On tours. After a trolley ride from the tour center to the farm, you'll get to bottle feed a calf, milk a cow and pet our kangaroos. Once back at the tour center you'll make butter, sample our cheese curds and milk, and enjoy Hansen's ice cream -- all made in our on-farm creamery.
Hands-On Tours take place at 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Reservations are REQUIRED. Walk-ins are not accepted. Book a reservation here. |

If you've been to our Cedar Falls store, there's a good chance you've seen the smiling face of Assistant Manager Amanda Grunklee.
Amanda has worked at the store for seven years, and says the connections with customers and her co-workers make her job a "blast."

Our July Customers of the Month jokingly refer to themselves as Hansen's Dairy "addicts."
Mother-daughter duo Carolyn and Jaci Goodsell, of Denver, are frequent shoppers at our Waterloo store.
"The first thing we tried was the skim milk. Then we got addicted to the cheese curds and the ice cream. The skim milk was our gateway," Jaci says, laughing.
Supporting small business is important to Jaci and her mom.
"I definitely make a beeline for any small business. The products are superior. It's worth it," she says.

Most of the Holsteins on our farm are black and white. But standing out among the herd are a handful of red and white beauties like Lylas, our July Cow of the Month.
Her auburn markings are no match for her glorious personality, though. Lylas is a mild-mannered lady with a gentle and quiet demeanor.
Lylas is 3 years old and has had two calves, both of them bulls.
Herd manager Blake says she's a delightful cow to work with in the milking parlor, even though her milk production is a bit below average. Can't have it all!

Ingredients
- 2 cups Hansen’s Dairy Heavy Cream*
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1/2 jar Clear Creek Orchard Strawberry Jam*
- Bagge’s Strawberries** or any seasonal berries
- O’Brien’s Own Gourmet Granola (1-2 Tbsp per parfait)*
- Waffle bowls*

Directions
- Slice about 1/4 cup of strawberries for each parfait.
- Beat cream, sugar and vanilla with a mixer on medium until cream stiffens, then on high until cream forms stiff peaks. (Do not overwhip or you'll end up with butter.)
- Incorporate jam into whipped cream using lower speed.
- Spoon into small bowls or waffle bowls.
- Top with strawberries and granola.
