We were in the North Atlantic last week.
On May 19, we boarded this ship in New York City--bound for Iceland. Although we never saw ANY ice at sea, the 648 ice bergs mentioned earlier did force us to change our course. With a planned
four day passage from Halifax to Iceland, the captain had to add one more day at sea in order to get safely around the bergs.
The Bottom Line. We have a host of unsustainable situations that are driven by our wasteful lifestyles, but climate change is what I call the elephant in the room--because it exacerbates most of the other problems. For more on the "big picture" of our grossly unsustainable lifestyles, take a look at this 30-minute video that any 8th grader could fully understand.
The future of our civilization relies on us quickly resolving the many issues covered in this video--but none of our leaders (or hardly anyone else) are even talking about them. Let's all do our part to dramatically increase the public awareness of these crucial issues before it's too late.
