New York City experienced torrential rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Ida. I advise everyone to stay home if you plan on any non-essential travel.

Below is more information regarding the response to the rainfall. Stay safe out there!

To report flooding on a street or sidewalk so that NYC DEP can address it,

FALLEN TREES

You can report City trees and branches that have fallen to the ground on public property to the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). Public property includes streets, sidewalks, parks, and other public places.

DPR officials also remove trees or branches that are blocking sidewalks or streets, as well as branches that are cracked or hanging and about to fall. Trees that are located along streets in front of houses will be investigated and removed if necessary.

DPR is not responsible for:

> Any non-City tree that falls on private property

> Any small non-City tree branch that falls on private property

> Any tree that is located on private property

OIL TANKS

Residential oil tanks in flooded basements may leak or rupture. If you suspect an oil spill in your home, call the NYSDEC Spill Hotline at (800) 457-7362.

There will be approx. 700 vaccination sites in school communities serving students ages 12 and older during the first week of school!

Each school will have a site scheduled for every day during the first week of school – on 9/13, 9/14, 9/15, and 9/17. Schools will be closed on 9/16 in observance of Yom Kippur.

Pfizer vaccine, which is approved for ages 12 years and older, will be administered.

The vaccination sites will return to schools during the week of October 4th to provide second doses.

Parental consent is required and schools will be providing more information about providing consent prior to the start of school.
