Coeur d'Alene Regional REALTORS® (CRR) was recently awarded a $20,000 Consumer Advocacy Outreach Grant from NAR. The Consumer Advocacy grant program allows local and state associations to create consumer advocacy activities in their communities with the aim to advance wise public policies that strengthen the real estate market, promote property ownership, and build strong communities leading to a healthy economy. The Consumer Advocacy Outreach Program also has a focus to educate and engage consumers on public policy issues at the state, local and national levels.
Kootenai County, like much of Idaho, has seen a growing housing crisis and slowing development despite persistent demand. With an influx of growth throughout the county, there has been an increase in Anti-Growth groups whose message is to limit city and county zoning, while creating negative messaging toward the housing industry. CRR’s Government Affairs committee wanted the community and elected officials to know that these are topics the association truly cares about and wants to be part of the conversation for a better solution.
Utilizing the NAR grant, CRR will be running a 6-week marketing campaign focusing on consumer education on property rights and homeownership benefits. The campaign will include cross-platform marketing strategies from radio, social media, and video.
The goals for CRR's campaign are:
1. Raise awareness with their community as to the severe nature of the crisis.
2. Make housing a key issue in the upcoming political races in November.
3. Lay the groundwork for polling and “Call to Action” in the Fall.
4. Elevate the position of REALTORS® in our community as advocates for homeownership.
Congratulations to Coeur d'Alene Regional REALTORS® for being awarded this amazing grant opportunity, and we look forward to seeing the successes that come from the new campaign.
