What do organic chemistry and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu have in common? For one Idaho State University student, the answer is strategy, grit, and a place on the podium. Eliana CraigSmith, a chemistry student and Noyce Scholar with the College of Education, captured gold and silver at the 2025 Idaho State BJJ Championship.

Piper Carlson is a marketing student interning with Idaho State University’s Department of Environmental Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHSS). Carlson’s duties include managing EHSS’s social media accounts, developing a monthly sustainability newsletter, and coordinating events to engage students in sustainability initiatives.
