Creating Opportunities Coast to Coast

Ryan Stinson has always believed in the power of education to change lives. To date, he has created scholarships at six state universities, including a new scholarship endowment at Idaho State University. The Ryan Stinson History Scholarship Endowment Fund will offer students majoring in history — particularly those with demonstrated financial need — the support to continue their education.

Karen Appleby Named Graduate School Dean

Following an extensive national search, and after careful consideration of feedback from both faculty and staff, an offer was extended to and accepted by Dr. Karen Appleby to become the next Dean of the Graduate School at Idaho State University.

Congratulations to our December Be a Bengal Nominees! Since 2019, the Be a Bengal Program has celebrated employees who embody ISU’s six core values: Teamwork, Integrity, Inclusivity, Community, Learning, and Shared Responsibility. In 2025, the program expanded to recognize contributions in any or all of these values, reinforcing their importance in our Strategic Plan.

Idaho State Today is a twice-weekly employee newsletter that shares University successes, campus updates, and recognizes faculty and staff accomplishments. All past editions of the newsletter are archived online.


To submit a campus update or story for Idaho State Today, fill out the online form by Friday at noon for Monday's edition, and Wednesday at noon for Thursday's edition. A separate newsletter called ROAR Weekly is sent to students on Wednesdays.
