Sharing Our Bengal Pride: Idaho State University Continues to Make P-12 Classrooms ROAR

In September, 250 educators in and outside of Idaho added orange and black to their P-12 classrooms thanks to the Idaho State University Make Your Classroom ROAR campaign. The initiative invited teachers, coaches, support staff, principals, and superintendents to showcase their Bengal pride and receive Bengal-themed decorations at no cost.

Spanish Poet Paula Melchor Makes Virtual Visit to ISU

Students in Idaho State University's master's program in Spanish were treated to a virtual visit from Spanish poet Paula Melchor whose acclaimed collection Amor y Pan (2022) has gone through six editions and won Editorial Letraversal’s First Prize for Poetry in 2022. Melchor engaged in a lively discussion with students from the Gastronomy in Hispanic Literature and Film graduate course. A key topic of conversation was the rural-urban migration that has shaped modern Spain, particularly in the southern regions.

Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion Conference set for Nov. 1

Achieving genuine equity and fostering a sense of belonging within rural P-12 educational settings will be among the various topics discussed at this year’s annual Belonging, Equity, and Inclusion Conference happening on November 1 from 2 - 7 PM in the ICCU Bengal Alumni Center. The conference is designed to facilitate meaningful dialogue among educators regarding evidence-based strategies to advance equity, inclusion, and a sense of belonging, with a specific emphasis on rural contexts.

To submit a campus update or story for Idaho State Today, fill out the online form by Friday at noon for Monday's edition, and Wednesday at noon for Thursday's edition. A separate newsletter called ROAR Weekly is sent to students on Wednesdays.
