College of Technology Professor Pioneers A New Frontier In Physical Therapy

The American Physical Therapy Association recently featured Darin Jeringan, clinical professor in the College of Technology and department co-chair of the Health Occupations Department on the cover of its national magazine. The feature highlighted his groundbreaking work in wilderness physical therapy — a niche specialty Jernigan has been practicing and developing for decades. He credits his diverse life experiences, including mountaineering, wildland firefighting and search and rescue, as converging into a unique skill set that enabled him to practice in these demanding and unconventional settings.

Anthropology and Languages Present at Idaho Conference for Undergraduate Research

The Idaho Conference on Undergraduate Research (ICUR) hosted seven students from ISU’s Anthropology and Languages Department this year with six presenting posters. The students represented several programs, including the anthropology major, linguistics minor, and forensic anthropology certificate and included an incoming graduate student. Their posters covered topics ranging from bioarcheology to ethnobotany to linguistic anthropology.

September's Impactful Research and Teaching Highlights

Adam Squires in the Department of Physical Therapy and Kavita Sharma in the Department of Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences are the featured Impactful Research and Teaching faculty. As part of an initiative to recognize impactful research, teaching and creative scholarship across ISU campuses, two faculty who have made meaningful contributions in these key focus areas are being honored each month during the academic year.
