A note from Yuki about that awful day
Yuki Maria

I woke up in the middle of night by sound of email came to my phone and I saw the news about the earth quake in Japan.
It was right after the earthquake happened. I called my mom right away. But phone line wasn't working there...
Then my heart started beating faster with feeling afraid. I looked up internet and they reported magnitude 8.9, 60 people died.
So I thought it wasn't big.
And after a day and two... and now, they reported more than 10,000 people died and still missing.
Now, they still have to deal with nuclear plants.
A lot of people lost their families and friends.  And they are still walking around the city swept away to look for they with tears.

i spoke to my cousins in Tokyo.  She said when she walks in to grocery store there is no food, no water.
You have to wait for several hours to get gas for a car.  They are panicking. I cannot imagine that in a big city Tokyo, there is no electricity for three hours everyday.
Everything is in chaos right now.
The earth is mad at human being.

Japan is my country, people work hard, polite, study hard day by day.I love the small island sounded by ocean, beautiful mountains, and energetic cities. Now people are trying hard to put one foot and another to move on.

I'm praying for Japan.  At the same time, I learn that what we really need is not only saving Japan but to save the earth.

Observations from
Tatsunosuke Kanetake, 9 years old, P.S.199
Tokyo, Japan
A week has passed since the vast earth quake in japan.  Magnitude 9.0earth quake hit northeast in japan was the largest Japan was ever had. Not only earth quake but also Tsunami occured. Many people we're swallowed and drifted by tsunami in a matter of seconds.  It is reported that death and missing total is 15,000 and the number is rising day by day.  The earth quake brought other disaster.  One is radiation leak by nuclear power plants damage.  Power company is

trying their best to cool reactors.  Another is blackout.  Lighting went out and trains toped in tokyo too.  There is much place not to connect telephone line.  Many people who lost their house live in cold gym in school with less foods.  Old people, chldren and babies are there.  The foods and supply are delivering little by little.  People from many countries is sending message and donation to japan. My family is in going to do everything we can do.  I decided to give up

buying toys 10 times or more and donate to people in disaster area.

Please help japan!
