The purpose of Floridians for Democracy is to educate Floridians about current assaults on our democracy and constitutional rights, and promote effective advocacy that will protect both democracy and freedom.

The Supreme Court won't save

Democracy.

   Congress isn’t acting, either.

It is up to us.

Watch the Sept. 25 webinar in our Speaking Out for Freedom series, "Can the Supreme Court protect our Democracy?"

We invited Bob Levy, libertarian scholar and chairman emeritus of the Cato Institute, to help us examine the Supreme Court's role in safeguarding democracy and individual rights.

Levy concluded that concerned citizens cannot continue to hope that SCOTUS (or Congress) can or will jump in to protect democracy because:

SCOTUS does not have the will to intervene against executive orders, preferring to wait for the cases to move through the courts to benefit from the standard court proceedings.

This process will take years. Therefore, Levy believes Congress must now reclaim its power to check and balance the executive in order to preserve the structural supports for democratic government.

Act now to slow down the Trump juggernaut and pressure Congress to use their power to limit executive power by:

Contacting our congressional delegations and demanding that our representatives exercise the power of Congress to limit executive power. You can do this by joining Floridians for Democracy’s Hear Our Voices Days of Action (add the link here)
