Wellness Now: Your Oasis in a Hectic Day
The happiness tips in last month’s Wellness Now newsletter got such a positive response, I decided to keep the party going with a few more suggestions for getting on the road to happiness.

Remember that we have more control over our emotions than we may realize. To quote Dale Carnegie, "Happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely upon what you think." Think happy thoughts.

May you be well,

Hints to Get to Happy
J ump! Release endorphins (aka, happy hormones) by doing jumping jacks, jumping rope or bouncing around. Moderate exercise is an effective way to decrease depression and anxiety and improve mental well-being.
Eat (a little) chocolate. Now that you jumped (you did, didn’t you?), reward yourself with some high-quality dark chocolate. Packed with antioxidants, chocolate can make us feel happy. (As if you needed me to tell you that!)
Groove to some tunes. Music can decrease anxiety, reduce pain, enhance feelings of well-being and promote relaxation. Bonus points for singing out loud, which promotes better breathing. (Can’t carry a tune? Who cares!)
Hang with upbeat friends. Want to be happy? Spend time with happy people. “Debby Downers” may be unavoidable but you can counteract others’ negativity by being with positive people.
Do some yoga. A few chest openers will improve your mood and brighten your day.

Romeo knows how to dig up some happiness -- by hanging out with his buddies on the beach. Ah, there's nothing like feeling the sand beneath
