June 2022
Volume 12, Issue 9

These past few months have been a real joy welcoming our retreatants and groups back to Loyola House. We’ve missed you and are so happy to have you return!!

Here are a few pics of the changes that have been made to the retreat wing…
LH hallway with new flooring
Bedroom with Ensuite Washroom
Ensuite Washroom with shower
The ensuites are popular and are the first to be booked! Here’s what we’ve heard…..

  • The entire weekend retreat was restorative and I’d do it again”
  • “I have experienced a deepening in spiritual and ecological engagement”
  • “I love the new ensuites - the shower is perfect, the room nice and bright”

Friends, I am so grateful to all of you; as you made it possible for us to update the bedroom wing at Loyola House…and you helped us get through a challenging time.

As I take my daily walk, in hopes to get in my 10,000 steps (smile), I marvel at the beauty around me and see God in all things: the colourful spring flowers, the chipmunks scurrying through the garden, folks caring for their community garden plots, farmers preparing for the first summer share, people walking the trails, and the continued restoration of the forests & planting of new trees.

Indeed, this is a place of beauty and sustenance where nature truly does gives strength to mind, body and soul.

With gratitude and prayers for your well-being,

Roger Yaworski, Executive Director

Life is precious.
Not because it is unchangeable,
like a diamond,
but because it is vulnerable, like a little bird.

Spiritual Direction - by gregor Y? kennedy*
the dew may soak thru
your morning shoes
and pickle your defenceless socks

later the same day
your reclaimed feet may kick
up a cast of mosquitoes
Passion-playing the angry mob
abuzz with that cry incomprehensible
“Crucify! Crucify!”
around your swimming head

your path may fold back
upon itself a dozen times
as if the labyrinth after hard rain
had overflowed its trim banks
and flooded all the fields
with its sly convoluted smile

but you really won’t get lost
if you don’t jump fences
here at the Ignatius Jesuit
(joyfully off-) Centre
you see,
there’s an inner compass on the land
including the part known as your heart
that forever points the needle
to the Rock in deepest invisible attraction…
and that’s what’s called round here
spiritual direction.
