Happy Back-to-School Season!

This fall, I have been excited to learn all about earth sciences at DelMNS! Since I was a biology major, I’ve had a blast learning more about new areas like paleontology and geology. Here are three of my favorite programs we offer on these topics:

Stones & Bones Discovery Tour teaches middle schoolers how much geology ROCKS! This very hands-on program invites students to participate in the rock cycle, compare and contrast the properties of different rocks and minerals, and discover how fossils are formed.
For elementary school-aged explorers, our Exploring Extinction tour lets them be a paleontologist for a day, complete with a tabletop fossil dig and touching real dinosaur bones in the PaleoZone!
Through our Dinos, Dinos, Dinos Mobile Museum, we bring the fossils right to your classroom! As a shark lover, there is no greater joy than watching kids’ (and grown-ups’) faces light up as I hand them a real megalodon tooth!

Calling all Delaware educators: Join STEM ConnectED Day on September 15, 2026, for FREE Professional Development!

See the museum in action to learn about field trips, outreach programs, professional development, and our annual education event. Includes behind-the-scenes visit to our Collections & Research division. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. Includes 10% discount in Rest, Relax, Recharge Cafe and Museum Store. Registration closes on September 11 at 11:59 p.m. Pre-registration is required through DFSME.

Breaking Into STEAM

Wednesday, May 19, 2027 | 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m., for grades 6-12

Career fair for middle and high school students with regional STEAM companies and organizations. In 2026 we hosted 27 organizations, four schools with 147 students, and many memorable moments. You could be a part of the 2027 event! Registration link found below.

Scholarships available — first-come, first-served

Last school year, more than 200 programs with about 5,000 students used grant funds to pay for programs and transportation. Grant funding is allocated on a first-come first-served basis. We have limited funding this school year for Title 1 schools!
