March 1, 2026

Greetings!

We pray your Lent is off to a fruitful start. This past month, students at Newman have embraced this new season as an opportunity to strengthen their faith and friendships. With Lenten Bible Studies and retreats, February has provided a month of renewal that will continue through March and deeper into the Lenten journey.

Student Spotlight

Each month we highlight a student whose faith has been strengthened through the Newman Center. This month, we are grateful to feature Sebastian.

Sebastian Frank is a freshman at NDSU. He is from Maple Grove, MN and is studying Computer Science. Last weekend, Sebastian was able to attend the Men's Retreat. Here is what he wanted to share with you:

"The men’s retreat was spiritually fulfilling. It was a weekend full of laughs and community building brotherhood that made me feel alive in Christ."

Men's Retreat

Earlier last month, 60 men traveled out to Stiklestad Lodge for a weekend of formation, prayer and community. The theme of the retreat was steadfast courage and events included a keynote talk from Matt Ingold, daily prayer opportunities and many fun games and activities.

Thank you for supporting us on Giving Hearts Day!

Together, we are changing hearts and changing lives!

Thank you to all of you who supported our efforts on Giving Hearts Day! Because of your generosity, we were able to meet our matching gift and raise over $250,000.

Your support on Giving Hearts Day is vital to igniting our work on the campus of NDSU. Countless students are touched by the support you provide and the opportunites it give them to deepen their faith during their college years.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Thomistic Institute

Several of our students lead and participated in a Thomistic Institute talk on campus last month. The topic was "Is Abortion Morally Acceptable to Save the Life of the Mother?" The talk was given by Dr. Steven Jensen, a professor of philosophy at University of St. Thomas-Houston.
