Information about Unemployment

Unemployment Benefits and the Federal Stimulus
Who can apply and How to apply!

Anyone, including part-time workers, who lost their job is eligible. Period!
Under the Federal Stimulus Law, those filing unemployment claims can get $600 a week in addition to the NY State weekly benefit of $504.

So, a New York resident can total $1,104 a week in unemployment benefits, regardless of whether they were making $1,104 a week before the virus.
For example, if you were making $800 per week, you would be eligible for the maximum state unemployment benefit of $504 per week.

Under the new program, as a result of the Stimulus Law, you get an additional $600 of federal pandemic unemployment compensation.
Additionally, because of the Coronavirus, NYS has waived the previously required 7 day waiting period before filing for benefits.

You can file for benefits online or over the phone. To find out which day of the week you can apply, please go here: https://labor.ny.gov/ui/how_to_file_claim.shtm.

Once you know the day you can apply, you can create an online account to complete your filing online by going here: https://applications.labor.ny.gov/IndividualReg/

If you prefer to apply over the phone, you can call 888-209-8124
Ways to Explore Italy from Home
While the entire world has faced this Coronavirus Pandemic, there is no denying the utter devastation Italy has suffered. As the Federation of Italian Americans of Brooklyn, our mission is to build a strong community devoted to preserving and enriching our community. With our roots in Italian culture, but spreading across cultures of the world, we hope to brighten your days at home with links to opportunities to explore Italy.
Thank you to Francis, our Supervisor, for cultivating this extraordinary list of options for exploring Italy.

This website has brief overviews of about 22 different cities in Italy! It also includes a separate page for each city that details specific information about that city such as where to go, what to do and what to see. Some of these pages even include brief video tours of the city from YouTube!

This website provides a wide range of content for about 26 different Italian cities. The details of each city include map placement, description of the city, things to do and basic knowledge about the city. Some of the cities also include virtual imagery of certain landmarks. An example of this is under the Rome section. While there you can take a photo of the coliseum and see what it looks like before and after reconstruction.

This website has a large amount of 3D Virtual Tours of hotels throughout Italy. It gives you the ability to see what your stay, the views and the amenities would be like if you decide to vacation in one of the cities of Italy.

This website has full 360 panoramic photography of about 21 different locations throughout Italy. This allows you to view 360 photos of specific parts of a city in high quality.

This link gives you access to numerous full 360 tours of every museum inside the Vatican. It lists the Pino Clementino, Chiaramonti, New Wing, Sistine Chapel, Raphael’s Rooms, Niccoline Chapel and Room of the Chiaroscuri.

This website is for the Uffizi Gallery in Italy. They don't have virtual tours but have something called Hypervisions which allows you to virtually go through the gallery of images they have displayed at the museum. These pictures also include decryption of the art as well.

This is a full 3D Virtual Tour of the Capitoline Museum. Users must have a flash player in order to use it. It’s extremely well organized and easily able to be navigated.

This is a full 3D Virtual Tour of the museum located at Trajan’s Market. It also requires the use of a flash player. It’s well organized and easy to navigate as well.
