Redistricting Hearings Underway, New Map Proposal Released

The Illinois House and Senate have held multiple redistricting hearings in the past week with more scheduled in the coming days. These hearings concern the federal congressional map for Illinois. As a product of these hearings nearing conclusion, it was reported that congressional maps could be released as early as today, the 15th.

On Friday morning, the proposed congressional maps were released. View the map here. Due to the 2020 Census apportionment, Illinois now has 17 congressional districts.

As with the previous state legislative map unveilings earlier this year, we expect this map to be tweaked before a vote is taken for enactment
