ILLINOIS SHOWCASE TEAM ROLLS TO 4-0 RECORD AT NAPHL SHOWCASE
By Ross Forman - Tommy Davis did the hard work and Matt Dahlke was in the right place at the right time.  Dahlke tapped home the rebound of a Davis shot to give the Illinois High School Showcase 18U team a thrilling 7-6 overtime win over Shattuck-St. Mary's 18U on Sunday, Sept. 22, in Minnesota - to end the team's perfect run in the annual North American PHL Showcase with a  4-0 record.

"Nothing compared to the goal scored (Sunday in overtime); that was a moment: an overtime game-winner," said Dahlke, a senior forward for Glenbrook North. "A defenseman tried to step up on Davis and he got around (the defenseman), and we went in 2-on-1."  Davis' shot went off the goalie's pads, "and I just had to tap it in," Dahlke said. "It really was a great play by Davis."  The Illinois team was dominant over the powerhouse Shattuck ... at least for the first half of the game, as Illinois led 5-0 during the scheduled ice-resurfacing break. Ask AHAI: High School Participation Form
Question: Is the AHAI High School Participation Form still a required document?  -
A High School Hockey Club President

Answer: No, the AHAI High School Participation Form has not been a required document for approximately six (6) years; it is provided to High School clubs only as a convenience. There is no requirement for a physician's approval to play, however, the Hold Harmless and the Consent to Treat forms are good for High School clubs, teams and/or organizations to have. The first protects the team/organization, and the second is best for the player should anything happen when the parent and/or guardian is not available.

BE A STEP aHEAD - REGISTER TODAY!
Nine years ago the Chicago Blackhawks, the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois, Athletico Physical Therapy and Dr. Elizabeth Pieroth created the "A Step aHead" program. The program had two stated goals: (1) provide free baseline neurocognitive testing for AHAI players and (2) to be a resource for education on concussions to the youth hockey community. However, we also understood that there are other important topics relevant to youth athletes. For this reason, two years ago we expanded the program to address a multitude of health and safety issues. We call this new program, "A Step aHead presents the Next Step."

We want to understand the needs of the youth hockey community.  We ask that you take just a moment to complete this brief survey. The results are entirely anonymous. We will publish the results in an upcoming AHAI newsletter. Thank you for your time and your interest in youth hockey safety!
