MENTAL SKILLS CORNER

Think, Play, Win: Sports Psych Tips for IL ODP Players

IL ODP players-welcome to Week 9 of Think, Play, Win, your weekly boost of practical sports psychology designed to help you perform with clarity and confidence when the game speeds up.

Brought to by Brian Roberts at pep360 (Whole Player. Whole Person. Whole Potential.) This series gives players simple, high-impact tools they can use immediately- in training, in games, and in moments that test you!

Over the past two weeks, we introduced scanning as a perception skill not a habit to simply “do more,” but a way to see the game earlier, see it longer, and see the right information at the right moment. We then explored what effective scanning looks like across every key position on the field.

This week, we shift our focus back to one of the defining qualities of a Youth National Team (YNT) player: Growth Mindset and Winning Mentality, beginning with a closer look at FOCUS (Intensity).

This Week Focus (Intensity)

Key Message- YNT Players have a continuous drive to improve and compete by:

         Giving maximum effort (work ethic)

         Concentrating, staying on task

And Committing to the process (sacrifice)
