ODP Players and Parents,

With the completion of Illinois ODP Winter Training, we want to thank all players and families for their commitment and effort throughout the training cycle. This week’s newsletter includes information regarding an added training session, Rockford Friendly rosters, and important details as we move toward final team selections. Many players will be participating in the Pre-ODP Festival, ODP Memphis Interregional and Rockford Friendlies. Following these events, final Illinois ODP State Team selections will be announced on April 1.

REMINDER: For all communications, please make sure to include player name and age group when emailing.

ODP ADDED TRAINING

We are adding one more session for each age group in February. Most of the age groups will be at the Schaumburg Sport Center. The 2009/2010 age groups will be in Rockford.

Please review the schedule below. All players are welcome to attend however, since this is an added sessions, you must sign up. Schaumburg will be limited due to the smaller facility.

MENTAL SKILLS CORNER

Think, Play, Win: Sports Psych Tips for IL ODP Players

IL ODP players-welcome to Week 11 of Think, Play, Win, your weekly boost of practical sports psychology designed to help you perform with clarity and confidence when the game speeds up.

Brought to by Brian Roberts at pep360 (Whole Player. Whole Person. Whole Potential.) This series gives players simple, high-impact tools they can use immediately- in training, in games, and in moments that test you!

This week, we shift our focus back to one of the defining qualities of a Youth National Team (YNT) player: Growth Mindset and Winning Mentality, beginning with a closer look at MOTIVATION and DETERMINATION.

Motivation & Determination: Desire That Never Switches Off

At the Youth National Team level, ability gets you noticed-motivation and determination keep you there. This key quality reflects a player’s continuous drive to improve and compete, even when conditions are hard, pressure is high, or progress feels slow.

Motivation and determination aren’t about hype or emotion alone. They’re about daily choices, repeated over time.
