Celebrating Local Philanthropy Events
IPCF hosted its annual Nonprofits Workshop and Celebrating Philanthropy Luncheon on Nov. 14, 2019 at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Normal.

The morning workshop focused on "Cyber Securing Your Nonprofit in the 21st Century." Attendees learned important safety tips from presenters Brian Hatcher of Brick Technology Group, Ryan Denham of WGLT and Officer Brad Park of the Normal Police Department.

Paul and Sandra Harmon of Normal were recognized as 2019 Philanthropists of the  Year at the luncheon which
Sandra and Paul Harmon
also featured grant recipients  Mike Romagnoli of the Community Health Care Clinic and Corin and Todd Chapman of the Harmony Park Project speaking about the impact that IPCF has had on their programs. Music during lunch was provided by the Sunshine Bells, an ensemble of the Bloomington-Normal Community Bells, a 2018 grant recipient.

Both Philanthropy events were sponsored by  Jeff Secord and Scott Davis with Renaissance Wealth Management BN and Drake Zimmerman with First Allied Securities.

Annual Campaign

Each spring, IPCF awards General Grants to local programs that focus on education, the environment, health and wellness, and youth. In 2019, 42 programs in our community were awarded nearly $57,000 in funding. View past grant recipients.

Distributions from endowed funds held at the Community Foundation accounted for a little over half of the money awarded in General Grants last year. The remainder of the funding for those grants comes from our Annual Campaign. Last year, our Annual Campaign received $27,500 in gifts from generous donors who recognize the need in our community.

T he need for funds to support grants to local nonprofits in our community is great: we typically receive requests for up to four times the amount of money available to award in General Grants.

If you haven't done so yet, please consider making a gift to IPCF's Annual Campaign. One gift from you will benefit many local organizations. All gifts to the Annual Campaign support the General Grants.  To make an online donation to the Annual Campaign,  click hereIf you prefer to make a donation in another manner, click here   for information.

Are You 70½? Do You Have an IRA?
Did you know that you could reduce your taxable income by donating your required minimum distribution (RMD) to  a qualified charity?

Requirements:
  • Only applies to IRA owners after they are 70½
  • Does not apply to distributions from employer plans
  • Only applies to direct transfers to qualified charities (NOT private grant-making foundations, donor advised funds or charitable gift annuities).
