The Women to Women Giving Circle and Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) at Illinois Prairie Community Foundation are accepting applications for grants from October 1 to October 31, 2020. Successful applicants will receive funding in January 2021.

The focus for 2021 Women to Women grants is programs that support resiliency (capacity to recover quickly from difficulties) for children in our communities from birth to third grade and their support networks (families, teachers, caregivers). The Women to Women grant also requires applicants to collaborate with another organization on a program addressing the focus. The total amount available is $38,712

Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) accepts applications for programs that are youth-focused or have a significant impact on youth. YEP includes 13 local high school students who create a grant application and allocate funds to youth-focused initiatives. YEP encourages youth to have an active role in completing the application and will give priority to those organizations that include youth in the application process. The group has $11,680 available.

Philanthropy Events Nov. 19
Illinois Prairie Community Foundation will celebrate National Philanthropy Week on Nov. 19 with a morning workshop for local nonprofits and a noontime celebration to recognize the annual Philanthropists of the Year. The Philanthropy events will be held via Zoom this year.

The morning begins with the nonprofits workshop for staff, board members and volunteers of nonprofits entitled "Building Resilience and Opportunities for Innovation." The workshop will take place from 9-11:30 a.m.

Arthur and Camille Taylor
The Philanthropy Celebration will honor 2020 Philanthropists of the Year Arthur and Camille Taylor of Bloomington and Susan Hoblit of Atlanta. This is the first year that IPCF is presenting two awards - one for Bloomington-Normal and one for Outside the Twin Cities. The celebration will begin at noon and last an hour.

Susan Hoblit
"The Taylors and Hoblit all exemplify the spirit of philanthropy through their involvement in, and support of, numerous community organizations throughout the years they have lived and served in our community," said IPCF Executive Director Greg Meyer. Read more about the Taylors and Hoblit.

Both the Nonprofits Workshop and Philanthropy Celebration are being offered at no cost this year.

Registration for both the workshop and the luncheon is now open on IPCF's website
Annual Campaign Kicks Off
We have kicked off our Annual Campaign again. All gifts to the IPCF Annual Campaign - 100% of all donations - fund annual General Grants to quality programs in the areas of education, environment, health and wellness, and youth, along with distributions from several endowments.

These grants provide nonprofits the opportunity to try new programs that hold promise or expand existing programs, actions that are not usually possible through allocations in the organization's annual budget. Click here to see the most recent General Grant awards.

Please consider making a gift to the IPCF Annual Campaign. Donations can be made online; by mailing a check to IPCF, 915 E. Washington St. Suite 2, Bloomington, IL 61701 (put Annual Campaign in memo line); or with a credit card by calling our office at 309-662-4477.
National Standards Re-Accreditation
In case you missed it, IPCF recently received re-accreditation with National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations®. This accreditation, signified by the Seal shown here, indicates that Illinois Prairie Community Foundation meets the highest standards for philanthropic excellence.

Donations From IRAs
If you plan on making a distribution from your IRA into a fund at IPCF, please send us an email or call our office to let us know to expect the check.

IRA distribution checks often arrive at the Foundation with no indication of whose fund it comes from or what fund it is meant for at the Foundation. Letting us know about your intended distribution, the IRA fund issuing the check, the amount and which IPCF fund it's intended for helps ensure the donation is properly credited.

IRA owners may make donations to qualified charities through their IRA and receive tax benefits in the process. Community Foundations are public charitable foundations, and, as thus, are eligible to receive IRA distributions into any endowment or field of interest fund.

Please email us or call 309-662-4477.
