Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) - Fall 2020 Learning Recommendations


The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) as sharing their  Fall 2020 Learning Recommendations , developed with the help of 58 educators from across the state. These educators shared their time, energy, and wisdom to create a compass to guide all 852 Illinois districts through the uncharted terrain that lies ahead. The recommendations provide a collective hope and aim to limit instructional loss, provide students with predictable structure and reliable routine, target learning gaps with additional supports, and offer all students opportunities for deep learning.

NAMI Chicago  will present a 1-hour Mental Wellness training designed to provide a foundation of knowledge on mental health & wellness. They will provide an introduction to  NAMI  Chicago's free mental health Helpline and other resources, cover key components of wellness utilizing the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), discuss the impact of stigma and how to support a someone who is struggling. This training will also provide different self-care strategies to utilize during this unprecedented time of uncertainty.

Assistant Director, Joshua Krasne, MA of the Resource Center for Autism and Developmental Delays (RCADD)  presents on the many remote tools and strategies offered to families.

     The Resource Center for Autism and Developmental Delays provides support for those who care for, teach and serve children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder or other developmental delays. RCADD serves families currently enrolled in an Early Head Start or Head Start program as well as others throughout the Chicagoland area.
 
    RCADD offers support at no cost to our patrons in the form of resources, referrals, training and ongoing consultations for families and professionals.



 
Colleen Shin, Director of Community Outreach at Autism Speaks will present on support and resources  offered for families of children with autism who are navigating the COVID-19 Pandemic.

     Autism Speaks is dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. We do this through advocacy and support; increasing understanding and acceptance of people with autism; and advancing research into causes and better interventions for autism spectrum disorder and related conditions.
