Summertime and the Livin' is Easy! In the midst of reenergizing after a busy Spring, and enjoying the sun, holidays, and family, here are a few updates on Illuminate Colorado's work to build strong families and prevent child maltreatment!

  • The Colorado Substance Exposed Newborns (SEN) Steering Committee and its six work groups are full steam ahead on their 2018-2020 priorities to prevent and address prenatal substance exposure across the lifespan. To learn more or to join a work group, contact Jillian Adams, SEN Program Manager, at jadams@illuminatecolorado.org.

  • The Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Coalition is establishing workgroups to address identified areas of education, communication, and advocacy. Please join us - we want to hear your voice! For more information, or to be added to the email list for the group, contact Anne Auld, Director of Programs at aauld@illuminatecolorado.org.

  • As an expansion of the Smart Choices Safe Kids campaign, the Substance Use Conversation Guide is a tool for professionals that provides direction on strengths-based conversations with families on substances and substance use, including sections on safe storage, safe and engaged caregiving, and the Protective Factors. A series of trainings are being hosted on the Conversation Guide this summer, to learn more contact Jason Read, Education & Outreach Program Manager, at jread@illuminatecolorado.org.
