Historical Tidbit:
Bostonian Shoe Lofts
One of the biggest landmarks in the town of Whitman, the Bostonian Shoe Lofts has a rich history. Built in the late 19th century this building was home to the Commonwealth Shoe and Leather Company, famous for their Bostonian shoes which are still sold today. This building has some fascinating architecture. In 1940 the shoe company expanded the factory over an old church; not much was left of the church but you can tell by the outlined arch windows. The building includes two 85 foot towers that lookout across the 250,000 square foot compound. It also features two skywalks connecting the buildings and around 1800 windows. In the company's prime it employed up to 600 workers from the local area. When the shoe industry finally started to slow down the factory shut down in the mid 1960s.

After being used for storage then being vacant for many years, in 2001 it was transformed into a printing factory for Harry B. Harding and Son. Owner John Campbell also rented out space to other businesses, and even set up a museum where artifacts from Whitman's industrial past were displayed. Eight years later it was sold to a real estate firm. Thankfully they decided to maintain the building's historic architecture and make 126 loft style apartments. This was incredible because it may have been cheaper to tear it down and build from the ground up but they decided not to. Now it remains on the National register of historic places and gives a peak back into Whitman's past.

Your Beautiful Imagination

I am convinced compassion, love, and a healthy dose of imagination will get us through. When we create together, we dream together and we emerge better and healthier people.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.” ~Albert Einstein

“Without leaps of imagination, or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.” ~ Gloria Steinem

“If you fall in love with the imagination, you understand that it is a free spirit. It will go anywhere, and it can do anything.” ~ Alice Walker

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.” ~ Mark Twain
I hope you have time to breath, let go of that tension and unleash your imagination. It's the beginning of something beautiful!
