"Speaking to Those Who Live in a Different World"
Interpreter magazine tells the story of Joey Butler who was explaining to his teenage niece that, when the original Star Wars movie was released, his dad took him to the movie theater eight times to see it. They went to see The Empire Strikes Back six times. Puzzled, his niece asked, "Why did you have to go to the theater that many times?" "Because," her uncle replied, "we didn't have VCRs or DVD players back then."

His niece looked at him as if he had said they didn't have electricity. Or possibly fire. Our Imagine Nation Youth can't believe that, when I graduated high school, we didn't have email, cell phones, or even fax machines. The Internet had not yet been created. They can't imagine how I ever got along in such a primitive world.

Younger generations live in a radically different world than previous generations did at that age. To reach younger generations, churches must understand who they are, what they like, and how best to reach them. Generation Y was born somewhere between 1982 and 1995. M*A*S*H* was just going off the air, MTV was just being launched, and "Thriller" was playing in cassette decks. They have had the Internet and mobile phone technology all their lives. This is how they communicate and build community. It's also why we have committed a strategic investment for technology to be such an integral component of Imagine Church.
Generation Y has also been called "the most civic-minded since the generation of the 1930s and 1940s." This is a generation of active doers. The more opportunities that Millennials have to get their hands dirty, the better. This is one of the reasons Imagine Church is creating a new missions team and looking at our community to find meaningful and need-meeting ways that many of us can become involved personally.

Imagine Church's desire to come alongside young people as they are launching their lives is critically important. We believe that a church which embraces young people and their needs is going to be a vital part of the future of both our country and also the Christian faith. Reports say that young people often mistrust the traditional church, but there is hope -- if churches will be creative and find new ways to do ministry that appeals to both skeptics and seekers.

Generation Y is hugely optimistic. They want to make changes for the better and make the world better than what they grew up in. Imagine Church shares in that vision and has committed to be a part of that change. Pray for our efforts and for the young people we will come to know, love, and welcome because of them.

In the name of the One who can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
Bruce Jones, Pastor and Co-Creator,
Imagine Church of the Carolinas
Worship This Week
We have all loved the "Your Story" series as we have had the chance to hear a variety of men and women from the Imagine Church family who have been willing to share part of their journey of faith. Each has been unique and compelling, and the stories have all been authentic and powerful. This week, the season of Lent nears its culmination on Palm Sunday, the day which commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into the holy city of Jerusalem. Our 10:15 a.m. worship, both in-person in the Gordon-Conwell chapel and live-streamed online on the Imagine Church Facebook Page, will feature the last of our personal faith stories, and it's one that you will not want to miss. We hope you will join us this Sunday!
"Your Story" Speaker This Week, Kelly Fox
We are pleased to introduce this week's "Your Story" speaker for Palm Sunday, Kelly Fox. Kelly and her daughter, Colbi, have been a special part of the Imagine Church family since 2016 when Colbi was active in Imagine Kids and attended CentriKid Camp each year. Alhough moves have taken her to the Atlanta area and then to Cary, North Carolina, to be closer to family, Kelly has remained a faithful part of Imagine Church as a leader of our virtual faith community, worshiping weekly with us online. She is a graduate of UNC Charlotte, a single mother, and an auto damage expert being the only female in a male-dominated workplace and industry. Kelly is also a fitness/nutrition enthusiast. We are glad that Kelly will be with us in person this Sunday, March 28, to share her riveting and compelling story of faith and faithfulness. We look forward to hearing her on Sunday!
Maundy Thursday Worship Online
Maundy Thursday (or Holy Thursday) is the night which commemorates the Last Supper Jesus shared with his disciples in the Upper Room in Jerusalem just before his passion began which led to the crucifixion on Good Friday. This year, Imagine Church will offer an online experience of worship at 7:00 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 1, on the Imagine Church Facebook page. Our online worship will include "communion at home" allowing you to use whatever elements may be available to you. We invite you to join us for this online worship experience next Thursday evening.
Worship Plans for Imagine Church on Easter, April 4
Easter is the ultimate day of the year for Christ-followers, and Imagine Church always makes Easter special and memorable. Even as the world is recovering from the pandemic, we still plan to make Easter 2021 the "Day of days" for Christians in our community and region. Here are our plans (and our backup plan) for Easter Sunday 2021 on April 4.

We plan to have outdoor drive-in and/or sit-outside worship on the new Lake Wylie site at 10:15 a.m. The address is 5471 Highway 55, East, Lake Wylie, and you are invited to bring your camping chairs to sit outside, or you can remain in your vehicle. Following worship, there will be hospitality tables with refreshments while our Imagine Kids join in an Easter Egg Hunt! There will also be a craft activity sponsored by our Children's Ministry for our households with kids.

In the event of rain, our backup plan is to meet indoors at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary at the same time, 10:15 a.m. The Easter Egg Hunt, Easter craft, and light refreshments will all be moved to GCTS as well.

On Easter, Bruce will conclude our current series with a resurrection message titled, "Your Defining Story." There will be an online component as well, but we hope many of you will choose to worship with us in person on the Day of days!
Leadership Team Meeting after Worship This Sunday
We invite all members of the Leadership Team to join us in person or by Zoom for a brief meeting in Room 122-B,C right after in-person worship at GCTS this Sunday, March 28, at 11:45 a.m. to receive an update on the church building program.
Imagine Church's First-Ever "Serve Day"
Our new Missions Team is sponsoring a "Serve Day" on Saturday, April 17, from 8:00-11:30 a.m., and there is an important role for you to play! There will be some significant community service opportunities in which you can share, and you will have a splendid opportunity to do something deeply meaningful in another person's life. Please watch for full details and a Sign-Up Genius in our newsletters and special emails in the coming days and weeks.
Imagine Kids
Did you catch the message that Gregory and Elijah shared this past Sunday titled 'Joseph's Brothers Come to Egypt'? If not, Gregory's pre-recorded messages post weekly on Sundays at 9:45 a.m., and you can watch them then or anytime thereafter. This Sunday, Gregory will share his final message about Joseph, so be sure to watch from home if you can't be with us in person.

When you worship in person at Gordon-Conwell, elementary aged Imagine Kids (grades K-5) are dismissed from the chapel early in worship for their session with Gregory, so we invite you to spread the love and share the fun by bringing a friend with you to Imagine Kids, too!
We're So EGG-cited to Spend Easter Sunday, April 4, with Your Family!
Imagine Kids, we hope YOU will stick around after Easter Sunday worship for an Easter Egg Hunt! This event is open to Imagine Kids of all ages, so don't forget to bring your Easter basket with you on Easter Sunday!
We are also looking forward to offering a special family activity for our Imagine Kids families -- building a Resurrection Garden that will allow parents to share the Resurrection Story with their Imagine Kids. If you would like to participate, please bring a blanket on Easter Sunday to sit on the ground while your family creates a Resurrection Garden. And, if you'd like to participate, please RSVP to Gregory via email or phone/text so we can purchase the right amount of supplies.
Memory Verse:
Parents, here is the memory verse for you to practice with your child(ren):

"You planned to harm me. But God planned it for good. He planned to do what is now being done. He wanted to save many lives." (Genesis 50:20)

Parents, if the entire verse is too long for your preschooler, have them learn just this first part:

"You planned to harm me. But God planned it for good."

If you listen to these commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today, and if you carefully obey them, the LORD will make you the head and not the tail, and you will always be on top and never at the bottom. – Deuteronomy 28:13
God tells us in today’s Bible verse that He will help you be on top. So when you work at a job, do your best, work hard, and then believe God that He’s helping you succeed. When you go to school, study, do good, and trust that God is helping you every day.

Ladies' Life Group
The Ladies' Life Group, led by Debra Tadlock, is continuing to meet on Tuesday nights at 7:00 p.m. at Gordon-Conwell in Room 127 to conduct a 5-week Bible study on the book of James. This book, written by the brother of Jesus, is a powerful book providing explicit direction on how we are expected to live our lives as Christians. You are invited to join and delve deeper into His Word. And, since precautions are being taken to ensure a safe setting, you are invited to bring a friend, too!

Home-Based Life Groups

The Greater Community Life Group is meeting again in 2021 every two weeks on Wednesday evenings. The ladies are reading Max Lucado's You Are Never Alone with facilitation provided by Michelle Transou. For more information about the group's next series, contact Michelle at 704-299-6235.
Grateful for Your Lenten Offerings
During this special time of personal reflection and faith, Imagine Church is grateful for the Lenten offerings we receive because we know your offerings are given with thanks for the abundance of gifts God has bestowed upon all of us. We give thanks and are grateful for you, our Imagine Church family, for your generous hearts.

If you are led to make an offering and will be worshiping with us in person this Sunday, we invite you to place your offering in one of the collection baskets at the GCTS chapel. Anyone, however, can make a safe and secure online offering from our NEW Church Center giving platform:

Also, as part of the upgrade to our new donation system, you can now give via our mobile Church Center app. You can download the Church Center app from Apple and Google directly to your smart phone. Simply search for Imagine Church in Lake Wylie to create your account.

Of course, cash or check can always be mailed directly to our church office at:

Prayers and Praises
Tina Fahrow, mother of Tamra Roberts and mother-in-law of Gregory Roberts of our church staff, claimed her victory over cancer and death on March 18, 2021, and entered the Life Immortal after a long and courageous battle with her illness. A service of life, death, and resurrection will be held in Wisconsin on Saturday, April 10. Our prayers will continue to be with Tamra, Gregory, and family in the coming days.

A service to remember and celebrate the life of Zach Preston of the Imagine Church family was held outdoors at Camp Thunderbird in Lake Wylie on Saturday, March 20, with eighty persons in attendance. We continue to hold Zach's wife, Rhonda Preston, in our prayers in the days ahead.

Meredith Martone continues the long road back to complete recovery following injuries sustained in an automobile accident in February. We continue to pray for Meredith and for her mother and caregiver, Dana Martone.

We continue to pray for Jerry Brownlee, father of Lydia Smith, who has had a series of heart-related issues in the first weeks of 2021.

Nick Jones is back among us faithfully on Sundays after enduring knee replacement surgery only a few weeks ago, and we are grateful to God for his healing.
