Community Workshop #1 - A Snapshot

The data is still being entered and analyzed, but we wanted to report back to you with a quick look into our first Master Plan Update Community Workshop. We were thrilled to see so many of you at the workshop and look forward to sharing upcoming ways to be a Crozet Visionary! Grab your coffee or tea and settle in for a recap.

What We Did

Welcome + Overview

We started with a few "flash talks" that shared the Master Planning process and the history of the Crozet Master Plan.

Station #1

At Station #1 participants were asked to answer "Why Crozet?"

Some themes we heard: natural beauty, small town feel, great schools, friendly community

Station #2

At Station #2 participants were asked to identify hopes and challenges for the future of Crozet.

Some themes we heard: congestion, school capacity, affordable housing

Station #3

At Station #3 participants reflected on the 2010 Guiding Principles and Vision. They considered what reflects Crozet current vision, and what should be added or removed.

Some themes we heard: importance of infrastructure, walkability & bikeability, supporting Downtown and local businesses.

Station #4

At Station #4, participants looked at a big map and responded to the question "if you could change one thing in Crozet today, what would it be?"

Some themes we heard: traffic congestion near Downtown, pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular connectivity to Downtown and eastern neighborhoods, school capacity

Report Back and Wrap Up

Staff facilitators from each station recapped the major themes from the stations and we shared upcoming participation opportunities (see below!).
