We will canoe down the scenic Sugar Creek enjoying views of covered bridges, rocks, trees and wildlife. Single 9:00 am Worship Continues
Sunday worship continues with a single worship service at 9:00 am followed by Sunday School at 10:15 am. The worship service follows the same basic format as the current services using both contemporary and traditional music. Special music will vary weekly alternating the Choir and Praise Team as well as other music possibilities. Comments have been good on the single worship service. The idea is to try to bring our congregation together following the pandemic and see how people will like the blended music format. A final decision on whether to stay with a single service format and the time slot for worship will be made by the congregation sometime this fall. We invite you to see how you like the possible new format, but even more important we invite you to worship God and fellowship together--Pastor TJ
The youth will be holding our annual rummage sale on Aug. 28th from 8 am - 2 pm. If you have unwanted items please consider donating them for the rummage sale. Proceeds will go to support youth programs. If you are able to help with rummage sale set up for more information see Tari Seeger.

Pastor Norm Nellis invites you to join him for a conversation on 'interpretation of the Bible.' We will meet during the Sunday School time in August/September. The first Sunday will be August 15th when we will think about how each of us interprets the Bible. Then we will explore primeval history narratives in Genesis 1-11. Bring your Bible and join the fun thinking about how YOU interpret the scripture. As Inigo Montoya said in "Princess Bride"-"You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means." Class will meet in the HOBO classroom for the first 2 weeks then move to Fellowship Hall.

From the Trustees about the.........
In the month of September, Deaton Tree Service will begin work on removing four trees on the northeast side of the Church surrounding the main drive We've all enjoyed the beauty these trees have provided over the years to the grounds at Immanuel, however they pose a risk to the Church as they age. The Trustees have determined that it is better to remove them now as opposed to waiting.
An anonymous donation was generously made to pay for the removal of these trees. Please join us in thanking this anonymous donor for the support in keeping Immanuel beautiful.
As much notice as possible will be given when the drive off 18th Street will be closed for the work being done and the back gate off Oak Court will be open.
A note from the Shoemaker and Wells families:
Our family wishes to thank our Church family for the outpouring of love during our sorrow with the passing of Pat. She loved our Church and the Lord with all her heart.

Volunteers to provide sandwiches or soup for the LUM Homeless Shelter.
Volunteers are needed to provide a meal of sandwiches or soup for the homeless shelter for the fourth Saturday of the month. Volunteers would provide a food (either sandwiches or soup for currently about 30 people) and deliver to the LUM Homeless shelter between 8 and 8:30 on the day you volunteered to provide the meal. If you would like to help but cannot deliver, I can arrange to help with that. Volunteers are still needed for November 27 or December 25.
Please consider assisting with this important mission and contact Sylvia Bechtel at firstname.lastname@example.org or cell phone
765-714-3715 with the date of when you would be willing to provide a meal.
Thank you, Sylvia Bechtel

Waiting for Dawn
Have you ever been up late at night while you were camping and just decided to wait for dawn? There is that sense of expectancy as we wait in the darkness, then suddenly, color lights the sky as the sun breaks over the horizon. Faith is like the promise of the new dawn in our hearts when the night is yet dark. It is a firm trust that comes from knowing God has a plan and purpose for our lives and even in the face of adversity. The psalmist encourages us to wait on the Lord and trust in God's power and strength. As we rely on God's strength and power, we find we are strong and well-able to meet the challenges of life. If you feel as if you are in the middle of darkness now, whether financial darkness, or the darkness of relationship difficulties, or dark clouds of illness or loss, or struggling against the darkness of injustice, or simply experiencing the dark night of the soul, remember that God often whispers in the night to wait for the coming light. Lean into God's strength and hear the gentle whisper: "It is not how able we are but how able God is."
(Verse of the week)
I would have lost heart unless I believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.
Wait for the Lord,
Be strong and take heart
And wait for the Lord-- Psalm 27. 13,14
(Prayer of the week)
Gracious God of love, thank you for your strength and power. Strengthen me to face the adversities and challenges of life. Help me to trust in your plan and your power. Renew the joy of living and the power of faith in my life and may your love flow through me that others might see you. Amen.
Have a blessed week!
