Introducing the Immanuel Men's SERVICE Ministry...
The Men’s Ministry goal is to serve by performing tasks that individuals are no longer able to do, don’t know how to do, or for safety reasons, should not be doing (up ladders, climbing into the attic, etc.). Below is a list of projects that Immanuel Men’s Service Ministry can consider as a monthly project or smaller individual tasks on an as-needed basis for members and non-members, such as neighbors/co-workers/relatives/friends:
- Change air filters or light bulbs
- Rinse and clean outside AC unit
- Minor concrete and crack repair for steps/walkways
- Pressure wash slippery patio, driveway, sidewalk, or siding
- Move furniture, boxes, holiday decorations
- Shrub/small tree removal
- Light tree trimming: low hanging or dead limbs
- Minor gutter repair / clean out
- Minor drainage issues, ie: creating a natural runoff or installing a basin and drain
- Mailbox repair (if damaged or needs painting/numbers affixed)
- Helping purge household items for donation to charity.
- Replace/repair landscape timbers or stone borders
- Attic: getting things out of, or into the attic
- Snow removal, de-icing sidewalk, critical errands when snowed in
- For those limited financially: mowing, edging, flower bed clean up, leaf removal
- Minor painting
- Minor electrical repair (replace an outlet or light switch)
- Caulk windows or installing door seals
The Men's Ministry Team can provide materials and services with no financial obligation to the beneficiary. For those with financial means, free will donations can be made to Immanuel and will be allocated on a pay-it-forward basis to create a sustainable fund for future projects. Materials and supplies can also be provided by the beneficiary, or the Men's Ministry Team can provide as needed (ie: garbage bags, paint, boxes, de-icer, etc.) No project is too big or small.
To request a project for consideration, contact the church office or your ILC Elder or submit a Men’s Project Request online at https://ilcmemphis.org/mens-ministry. You can also use the form to submit projects not listed above. After you submit a project request, you will be notified if your project is approved/declined, or a referral will be made to a reputable cost-effective professional (the team knows people who can help).

Thanksgiving Food Boxes: Blessing Our Neighbors in Need
Immanuel is excited about sharing boxes filled with food items for Thanksgiving with families in need in our community— and we need your help. We’ll be working with our ministry partners such as the Memphis Union Mission, Neighborhood Christian Centers, HopeWorks, and RestoreCorps to ensure these families are reached with the message of Jesus in conjunction with this demonstration of love and compassion. It would be great if individuals and groups could sponsor one or more Thanksgiving food boxes by providing the items needed below. Your donated items can be left in bags, boxes, etc. in the church lobby (in or next to the collection box) no later than Sunday, November 15. We’ll ensure the food items are packaged and that complete boxes are delivered to our ministry partners for families in need early the week of November 17. Items needed for each box include: 1 box of carrot or spice cake mix, 1 container cream cheese icing, 2 large bags (or 3 small bags) instant mashed potatoes, 2 boxes stuffing mix, 1 large can yams, 2 reg. cans green beans, 2 reg. cans corn, 1 bottle juice, 1 bag dried beans, 1 can cranberry sauce, 3 packets (or 1 jar) turkey gravy, 2 boxes macaroni and cheese, 1 - 2lb. bag brown sugar, 1 large package cookies, 2 boxes Jiffy Cornbread mix, 1 box hot cocoa packets, 1 bag mini marshmallows, $20 gift card to Kroger (to purchase turkey). Please do not add additional items. Please contact Ed Mell at emell72@bellsouth.net or 849-2751 regarding what you can provide.

Thanks for a Great Oktoberfest Celebration!
A beautiful autumn day was the perfect backdrop for the Mid-South District’s 60th Anniversary Oktoberfest celebration, hosted at Immanuel last Saturday, October 24. Food, children's activities, music, colorful costumes and lots of fellowship made it a memorable day for all. The event also presented an opportunity to support Immanuel's special community partner, Neighborhood Christian Centers (NCC). Numerous congregations donated creative themed baskets for a live auction that raised over $2,400 for our friends at NCC! The special day would not have been possible without the leadership and planning of Immanuel member Diane Reimold and an amazing team of volunteers. Thank you to all! For more Oktoberfest photos, be sure to visit the Mid-South District's Facebook page.
