As a citizen of Texas, I am writing to express my strong support for Senate Bill 618, as it passed the State Affairs Committee with Senator Hall's substitution, which would add penalties for the unlawful altering of election laws and procedures.
SB 618 provides necessary deterrent and accountability measures that will help protect our election processes in Texas. I urge you to support SB 618 with Senator Hall's committee substitute when it comes before you.
This important legislation strengthens election integrity by ensuring that election officials and officers, including the Secretary of State, follow the law as written, with clear consequences for violations. When election procedures are altered outside established legal frameworks and due process, it undermines public confidence in our electoral system.
