Welcome to the Texas Offshore Racing Circuit (TORC) Reach Down the Beach & Quantum Cup Regattas! Gain valuable offshore sailing experience and build confidence sailing in the Gulf of America amidst varying weather and sea conditions. Join us in this Texas sailing tradition!

Tentative Schedule

Thursday, May 7

9:00 am Check-in, crew briefing, provisioning, regatta safety requirements

12:00 pm Depart for Galveston - Dock at Galveston Yacht Basin

7:00 pm Informal review of SI’s at the          

lobby bar of the Tremont Hotel in Galveston 

Friday, May 8

8:00 - 11:00 am Starting window, Reach Down the Beach

ETA 5:00 pm Freeport - Dock at Freeport Surfside Marina - Regatta party

Saturday, May 9

8:00 am All boats depart the harbor

9:00 -10:00 am Start, Quantum Cup Regatta

ETA 7:00 pm Finish Line - Galveston

Sail to Seabrook or dock in Galveston

Sunday, May 10

3:00 pm Awards in the HYC Bar

Event 1 | Friday, May 8

Reach Down the Beach Race

Galveston → Freeport (40 nm)

• South Coast Sailing will be participating in the BIMINI'S 'N BARBECUES (B 'n B) class (cruising boats sporting a bimini and a mounted barbeque pit)

• Starting window opens at 8:00 am and closes at 11:00 am

This race serves as a fun positioning event to get boats to the starting area in Freeport for the Quantum Cup.

• Regatta party at Dorado's near Surfside after finishing - Awards ceremony with limited free rum, dinner and an awesome evening of karaoke!

Event 2 | Saturday, May 9

Quantum Offshore Regatta (QOR)

Freeport → Galveston (42-60 nm)

Also known as “The Freeport Race”

• We will be participating in the B 'n B class on this race to Galveston, as well.

• Starting window opens at 9:00 am and closes at 10:00 am

Sunday, May 10

• Awards ceremony at Houston Yacht Club
