  1. French Conversation Circle (Wednesdays, 4:30 - 6:30pm) - The YMCA Immigrant Services will facilitate a french conversation circle to help you improve and learn the French language.   2. "Emotional Culture" CCDI Community of Practice Event (Sep 27, 8am - 10:30am)
    - This CCDI (Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion) event in Kitchener will explore the links between a sense of belonging in the workplace, employees' well-being, and work performance through the emotional culture of work organizations.   3. "Waterloo Region Votes" municipal election events - Upcoming all-candidate meetings include: Sep 25 (Women in Politics WR), Sep 26 (Waterloo), Sep 26 (Wellesley), Oct 2 (Wilmot), Oct 4 (Cambridge), Sep 30 (Kitchener), Oct 10 (Regional Chair), Oct 10 (North Dumfries), Oct 14 (Waterloo) and ward-specific meetings.   4. "Under-Served: Health Determinants of Indigenous, Inner-City, and Migrant Populations in Canada" Book Launch (Oct 2, 2 - 4pm) - Co editor Akshaya Neil Arya and contributors Bonnie M. Freeman, Joe Mancini, Shpresa Aliu-Berisha, and Janet McLaughlin, discuss their perspectives on the historical, political, and social factors that influence the overall health of Indigenous, inner-city, and migrant populations in Canada. "Tools for helping people find good legal information" webinar (Oct 2, 12 - 1:15pm) - CLEO (Community Legal Education Ontario) will be hosting this webinar for community workers who help users find legal information. It will focus on topics such as: finding reliable sources of information, understanding the difference between legal information and legal advice, and helping clients find step-by-step information about common legal problems.   6. Indian Cooking Class (The Bridges Project) (Oct. 15, 5 - 7pm) - The Bridges is an intercultural and intergenerational learning program, planned and implemented by Waterloo seniors, that is built around exchanging cultural experiences and knowledge across generations. This program will be offering a class to learn how to cook authentic Indian Food, followed by a shared meal at the end of class. For more information or to register: https://www.bridgeswaterloo.com 
  7. "Community Consultation and Needs Assessment" workshop (Oct 15 & 16, 9am - 4pm) - This workshop is part of the Wilfrid Laurier Management and Leadership certificate course and is focused on how to develop sustainable new programs in response to the community's needs and consultation. It also offers ideas for proposal development and how to have a greater impact for communities and funders. IN THE NEWS: "Rental Rates In Canada: Ontario Cities Soar By Double Digits As Vancouver Cools Off" (Huffingtonpost.ca) https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2018/09/19/rental-rates-canada-september_a_23532796  "Strong rental rate inflation was also seen across many of the Ontario cities covered in the survey, with one-bedrooms rising by about 15 per cent in Ottawa, Hamilton, Kingston, Kitchener, St. Catharines and Windsor."
