The Immigration Partnership Council is currently recruiting for three new volunteer members, focused on leaders with involvement in business, housing development, legal services, human rights and equity. New members will help us enable immigrants to reach their full potential, building community, partnerships, collaboration and innovation.

COVID-19 Information and Resources

Youth and family vaccine clinics will be offered at schools across Waterloo Region starting tomorrow August 4 to allow all youth the opportunity to be fully vaccinated before school starts. No appointments are required for first or second doses for youth between the ages of 12–25 or their family members at these clinics (while supply lasts). Youth must be 12 years old at the time of their vaccination. These clinics will be administering the Pfizer vaccine.

Walk-ins for first doses and eligible second are available at any vaccination clinic during operating hours, as long as sufficient vaccine is available. You must be 12 years or older at the time of your vaccination. Walk-ins for 12-17 years of age are only available at clinics offering Pfizer

This article uses the 2018 General Social Survey to compare self-reported loneliness between immigrants and the Canadian-born population. “Recent and long-term immigrants reported higher levels of loneliness than the Canadian-born. Moreover, loneliness did not appear to be alleviated by the length of stay in Canada,” the research states.

Capacity Canada, in partnership with Intertek Catalyst, Conestoga College, Manulife, HIM&HER, and the creative community, will donated design and marketing work to non-profit organizations across Canada through Creative Day for Social Good (CD4SG). Save the Date: 18th Annual Immigration Law and Policy Conference

From September 27 to 28, the Migration Policy Institute's conference will be a virtual event and consist of two half-days (afternoons Eastern time). The conference will feature thoughtful policy and legal analysis, and discussion of the most important immigration topics from leading government officials, attorneys, policymakers, researchers, advocates, and others. More info on registration and agenda to follow soon.

The latest episode of "The Immigrant View with Ayo" podcast focuses on how to build a credit history as a new immigrant, why it is important for financial success in Canada and for purchasing a house, etc. This podcast is for immigrants looking to maximize their potential in Canada

Spectrum is calling members of the trans community, family members, colleagues or friends of a trans person, and service providers working in community, health or social services to complete a survey that will inform the development of a forthcoming Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention Toolkit for the Transgender Community in Waterloo Region.

This edition's highlights include information on the most recent changes to the travel and entry requirements and the impact the changes will have on the arrivals of sponsored refugees; how to register for the August webinars on prepare a sponsorship application package, create a strong settlement plan, make necessary preparations for arrival and providing post-arrival support, and much more.

Join YMCA of Three Rivers Immigrant Services online every Wednesday evening in August to meet representatives from various Waterloo Region organizations and spend the month discovering your new home! These sessions help newcomers settle into their new communities.
