Immigrants and Refugees: A Solution to Your Workforce Gap, Oct 24, 8am-12pm
(E) T his panel presentation, hosted by The Human Resources Professionals Association Grand Valley Chapter and sponsored by Immigration Partnership, features four diverse professionals who will share their perspectives on hiring immigrants and refugees to solve the labour and skill gaps that businesses are facing. Registration ends October 17.
 Immigration and the Economy Forum   (Nov 13, 11:30am-2pm)
(G)   The Immigration Partnership’s 2019 Immigration Forum is being hosted with the Greater KW Chamber of Commerce, with a focus on “Immigration and the Economy”. It features The Hon. Perrin Beatty, President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, as keynote speaker and will include a panel discussion with local elected officials.

Startup Business Basics- Kitchener,
Oct 16, 4:30-6pm
(G) The Waterloo Region Small Business Center is offering this seminar that will present the necessary steps to start a business. Attendees will learn how to assess their entrepreneurial readiness, the various forms of business ownership, government regulations, the importance of a business plan and more.
National Francophone Immigration Week, Nov 3-9
(G) This is a unique opportunity to bring together francophones, regardless of their background. Many festivities will take place from one end of Canada to the other. In Central-Southwestern Ontario, it will offer activities for young and old, francophone and francophile: celebration in schools, workshops and training on the theme of immigration, cultural evenings, etc.
Resources and Information
This campaign videos in 13 different languages were developed by Immigration Partnership Winnipeg in order to inform new Canadians about their right to vote and why it is important to participate in the 2019 Canadian federal election.
The Power Is Yours Election Handbook
The Power Is Yours Election Handbook by Democratic Engagement Exchange is available in French, Spanish, Punjabi, Chinese and Tagalog. This guide was designed to be the one-stop-shop for the information needed to understand and participate in the 2019 Canadian federal election on October 21st.
A Guidebook on Transitional Issues for Refugee Youth
These resources are a toolkit of legal information about common issues faced by refugee youth, and a set of short companion videos addressing some of the key legal topics. The toolkit and videos also provide information about sources for further legal information and advice.
Civic and Community Engagement
Recognizing that Immigration plays an important role in the community and economic development, the Immigration Partnership asked all election candidates in Waterloo Region four questions about immigration. See 
their responses.
Research and Data
According to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), asylum applications decreased to 1.09 million in 2018, 35% fewer than the record high of 1.65 million requests registered in both 2015 and 2016. Most asylum seekers came from Afghanistan, followed by Syria, Iraq and Venezuela. Because of the drop in asylum applications, the number of registered refugees also declined, falling by 28%.
