(G) STILL TIME to get tickets to Join the "Immigration and Economy Forum" brought by the Greater KW Chamber of Commerce and Immigration Partnership. The forum will feature the Hon. Perrin Beatty, President of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, as keynote speaker and will include a panel discussion with Karen Redman, Chair for Waterloo Region, and Tony LaMantia, President and CEO of Waterloo EDC.
The Role of NGOs in Refugees’ Integration in the Circumpolar Region: A Comparison of Norway and Canada

(SP) This migration-themed talk, sponsored by International Migration Research Centre (IMRC), brings Kirill Gurvich, PhD candidate in Sociology at Nord University and IMRC visiting scholar, who will discuss the key activities that NGOs perform to facilitate refugee integration and the relationship between NGOs and other civil actors, specifically the governmental organizations .
Webinar: Immigrant Futures: Regional Strategies for Northern Attraction and Retention, Nov 18, 1pm (EST)
(G) Cities of Migration brings together Northern Policy Institute, Thunder Bay Multicultural Association and North Bay & District Multicultural Centre to share their research and policies to address the unprecedented challenges of demographic change and population decline from Atlantic to Western and Northern regions, smaller and rural communities across Canada (and the U.S.).

Waterloo Region Newcomer Landlord Awards, Nov 21, 9-11am
(G) Immigration partnership is celebrating the Waterloo Region Newcomer Landlord Award on Nov 21 to recognize the generosity of those that provide flexible housing solutions for recent immigrants & refugees. The Awards will be presented at the local National Housing Day celebration, hosted by the Region of Waterloo.
Valuing Inclusiveness: Diversity, Equity and Religious Inclusion, Nov 22

(G)   The City Of Cambridge’s Accessibility and Diversity Services is organizing this free workshop on diversity, equity and inclusion with a special focus on religious diversity. It will feature guest speakers Dr. Michele Mannochi, Adjunct Research Professor at the Department of Psychology, Western University, and Dr. Shari Golberg, Senior Policy Advisor at the Ontario Public Service Inclusive Diversity Office.

PUSH Screening, Dec 5, 6:30-9pm
(G) HHUG Housing Stability Training Centre presents this documentary that follows Leilani Farha, the UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing, as she’s travelling the globe, trying to understand who’s being pushed out of the city and why. After the film, there will be a panel discussion that will include Martine August (University of Waterloo) and Mayor Berry Vrbanovic.
Consent and Sexual Violence Workshop, Dec 9, 7-9pm
(SP)  This workshop, brought by Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region, will explain what sexual violence is and will provide skills, tools and information to be able to help newcomers who are at an increased risk for experiencing sexual violence in Canada, or they may have experienced in their home country.

Civic and Community Engagement
The African, Caribbean and Black Network Survey

The African, Caribbean and Black Network (The ACB Network) invites the Community of the Waterloo Region to complete a short survey that will help them gain a better understanding of ACB identified individuals, groups, and organizations serving the region. With this survey, The ACB Network wants to create a directory of African, Caribbean and Black businesses within the region that will be launched shortly once its website is activated. Participation in the survey provides respondents with an opportunity to be entered into a draw to win one of four $25 gift cards.  
Research and Data

Migration Policy Institute brings this article which presents findings from interviews to explore asylum claimants’ motivations for claiming asylum, information sources, and experiences along their journey and after arrival. It also analyzes the effects of the recent arrivals on Canada, especially regarding the political implications. The goal is to fill a research gap by providing empirical evidence for the drivers of irregular migration to Canada.
