BI Zero Waste director Diane Landry and at least two members of the ZW steering committee, Jane Martin and Barbara Ochota, will be present to field your queries and give the lowdown on what Zero Waste has been up to during Covid times.
Comment by the End of Today!
Would you like to be able to bring your own clean refillable container when buying bulk food and deli items? If so, you have until midnight tonight, September 29, to comment on the Washington State Department of Health's proposed changes to its food safety rules.

Zero Waste Washington provides several different easy ways in which to write in. Simply go to their newsletter and scroll down to the "Bring Your Own Container" section for instructions.

Pay No Heed to the
Number in the Recycling Symbol
Just whose idea was it to put different numbers inside the iconic recycling symbol stamped on the bottom of plastic packaging? Find out in this 24-minute Planet Money broadcast. The presenters argue the recycling system is broken, but one way to make it work better is to simply follow this advice:
Bainbridge Disposal doesn't want you to look at the numbers.

Just make sure the only plastic you give them is a jar, jug, bottle or dairy tub, and make sure it's empty and clean.
Free Tire Collection
Kitsap Solid Waste is holding a Tire Round-up this Sunday, October 4, 10am-4pm at the county fairgrounds' Thunderbird Arena. See their event page for more details.
