CPP Program - Key Updates

Immunization Updates

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recently held a meeting on June 25–26. During the meeting, ACIP voted on the following topics:

  • Merck’s RSV Monoclonal Antibody Enflonsia™ – The incorporation of Merck’s new monoclonal antibody Enflonsia™ was recommended by the committee for prevention of RSV. Enflonsia™ is administered as a single dose, regardless of body weight, to protect infants younger than eight months born during or entering their first respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) season. Click here for more information on Merck’s Enflonsia™.

  • Enflonsia™ is billed under CPT code 90382 - Respiratory syncytial virus, monoclonal antibody, seasonal dose, 0.7 mL, for intramuscular use. As a reminder, we recommend checking with your major payers to ensure adequate payment is in place before incorporating new immunizations into your schedule. Typically, we begin seeing payments for newly approved immunizations 90 days after the CDC Director has confirmed the ACIP’s recommendations.

  • This new immunization is also now part of the CPP portfolio, offering a discount to those members already participating in the CPP/Merck contract. If you would like to enroll with the CPP/Merck discount or need updated pricing, please contact the CPP office at cpp@nationwidechildrens.org

  • Influenza Vaccines – For the first time since 2017–2018, the 2024–2025 influenza season was classified as “high severity” across all indicators, with an estimated 56 million illnesses, 25 million medical visits, and 770,000 hospitalizations. For the 2025-2026 flu season, the ACIP recommends that all children aged six months and older, pregnant women and adults should receive a flu vaccine that is thimerosal-free. Thimerosal is an ethylmercury-based preservative commonly used in multi-dose vaccine vials to prevent bacterial/fungal contamination.

  • Sanofi anticipates having sufficient supply of Fluzone® available in pre-filled syringes so that anyone who pre-booked Fluzone® multi-dose vials and would prefer preservative free pre-filled syringes can reach out to Sanofi to change your reservation. Please contact Sanofi’s customer service department at 1-800-VACCINE (800-822-2463) to discuss modifications to your order. If you did not order any Fluzone® multi-dose vials, there will be no changes to your reservation and there is no action required at this time.

  • Seqirus is automatically converting any pre-booked multi-dose vials of Afluria® or Flucelvax® to pre-filled syringes at no cost to the customer. There is nothing CPP members need to do. If you have any questions, reach out to Seqirus customer service at 855-358-8966.

CDC Updates: VFC Vaccine Stocking Rules

The CDC has eased stocking requirements for Vaccines for Children (VFC) providers, no longer mandating them to stock all vaccines for privately insured children. This change especially impacts birthing hospitals and aims to improve access to RSV immunization for newborns. Read more on this from the AAP News here.

Upcoming Conferences

CPP will be in the exhibit hall at the following conferences and would love to meet you in person! If you’re attending, stop by the booth to get vaccine management resources or a vaccine tray for your practice!

September 19-21: Michigan American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Conference – Traverse City, MI

September 26-30: American Academy of Pediatrics National Conference – Denver, Colorado

October 5-9: American Academy of Family Physicians Family Medicine Experience Conference – Anaheim, CA

October 10-11: Ohio Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics Annual Meeting – Columbus, OH

CPP is celebrating 40 years of service to primary care practice physicians and staff in pediatric, family medicine, internal medicine, and OBGYN practices as well as health clinics. When we started back in 1985, we were a small group of physicians concerned about managed care inequities, medical coding complexities, and vaccine costs amongst other practice management issues. We advocated for fair negotiations with payers, consulted with national coding experts, and developed a national vaccine group purchase program to protect the financial health of CPP member practices.

Over time, we grew to become a much larger Tier-1 vaccine GPO helping to negotiate deeper discounts and share some of the largest rebates in the industry with our members. We now serve practices in 42 states, primarily because of positive word of mouth from you and for that we are extremely grateful.

While there has been a lot of change over the last 40 years, one thing has remained. Our members are at the center of everything we do. We take care of you, so you can take care of your patients. We know that when we bring more value to you, our members win, our partners win, and CPP wins. We will continue to have an unwavering focus on the health and financial success of your vaccine administration programs.

Thank you for your trust in us and let's take on the next 40 years!
