VOLUNTEER AT SUSTAINERS HAPPY HOUR 2025

Interested in volunteering with Family Building Blocks? Join our Special Events Team Volunteers and help us at Sustainers Happy Hour on March 12, 2025! At our Sustainers Happy Hour event, volunteers are needed to set out pens and programs, greet guests, and more. Connect with us today to find the perfect role.

Volunteers are an integral part of Family Building Blocks’ ability to support over 1,300 children and 850 families annually, and we appreciate every individual or crew that supports! Because of our volunteers, we are able to ensure that each child in our therapeutic classrooms receives warmth, love, and critical nurturing attention, each family enrolled has the opportunity to access a full clothing closet and food pantry, and our offices and events have the support needed to function efficiently.

For additional volunteer opportunities, please contact Gaby at gestrada@familybuildingblocks.org.

PGE SOLAR PANEL PROJECT COMPLETE AT CHELSEA'S PLACE

We are thrilled to share that we were selected to receive Portland General Electric’s Renewable Development Fund award! With this award, we were able to install solar panels at our Family Building Blocks - Chelsea’s Place location, to help ensure families and children continue receiving access to our classrooms, food pantries, and clothing closets, providing a continued sense of safety and security for our families. This investment also bolsters Family Building Blocks’ commitment to environmentally friendly practices.

The Renewable Development Fund awards grants for clean energy projects in the community and is fully funded by PGE Green Future℠ customers, a group of more than 225,000 people choosing renewable energy. Since the program’s inception in 1999, PGE Green Future℠ customers have helped fund more than 16.6 Megawatts of new, local renewable energy generation.

Thank you, PGE and Green Future℠ customers, for supporting organizations like ours in the journey toward a cleaner, greener future!

THANK YOU CHICK-FIL-A KUEBLER GATEWAY!

We are honored to share that we’ve been named a 2025 Chick-fil-A True Inspiration Awards grant recipient. Thank you to our Board Chair, Lillian Kay, and our local Chick-fil-A Kuebler Gateway owner, Lee Richardson, for the nomination. Family Building Blocks was awarded $125,000! This funding will help us make an even greater impact as we continue our mission of “Keeping Children Safe and Families Together” in our community. Thank you to everyone who voted for Family Building Blocks and supported our efforts to win this grant award! We appreciate your support!

THANK YOU PINK ELEPHANT!

What a fun way to kick off 2025! The Pink Elephant Tavern and their community raised over $4,400 in two nights for Family Building Blocks with a Bake Sale and Chili Cook-off. Their bake sale included goodies from local bakeries and the Pink Elephant community as well as silent auction items and a 50/50 Raffle. The second evening featured a Chili Cook-off, with nine chili entries for customers to taste and rate! Winners were given prizes and then all proceeds from both nights were donated to Family Building Blocks.

Thank you to The Pink Elephant, Emily Petersen, and her amazing team for their ongoing support of Family Building Blocks! From baking goods to tasting chili to promoting the fundraiser, thank you as well to our Family Building Blocks Young Leaders Council, for their additional support of this fundraiser. Cheers to 2025!

GET READY FOR THE LES SCHWAB DIAPER DRIVE 2025!

Throughout the month of April, Mid-Willamette Valley Les Schwab Tire Centers will host their annual April Diaper Drive benefiting children and families partnering with Family Building Blocks.

Les Schwab and FBB invite businesses, schools and individuals to join in collecting diapers for families in our community! Babies are born every day and the need for diapers is constant – with your support, we can help meet the need for families to have access to diapers. Les Schwab, local businesses, schools and FBB are partnering to meet this challenge with the goal of collecting over 100,000 diapers in 2025!

🧷 Why diapers? Babies require 8-10 diaper changes a day, and many families struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their little ones clean, safe and dry.

💙 Why April? April is Child Abuse Prevention month. By ensuring families have access to essentials like diapers, we can help create a safer, more connected community. Your partnership and the Les Schwab Diaper Drive is a key part of this effort.

❤️ Want to participate? Interested in hosting a collection box or partnering with us? Contact Laura at lstovin@familybuildingblocks.org to learn more about signing up, advertising options, and to submit your logo for the 2025 Les Schwab Diaper Drive poster, before their deadline of February 12.

Let’s work together to love on families and cover babies from the BOTTOM up!
