May, 2016
President's Message

Donna Broderick
As we turn over the literal and digital page of the calendar to May, my thoughts automatically turn to mothers. Charles Stanley said, "Motherhood is a great honor and privilege, yet it is also synonymous with servanthood. Every day women are called upon to selflessly meet the needs of their families ... moms continuously put others before themselves."

The women of Impact 100 are also called upon to meet the needs of others as we carry out our mission, which began 15 years ago - promoting human welfare through the caring actions of people working together toward a common goal. To do so we remain committed to awarding as many grants as we can - so we ask for your help in recruiting the 2017 membership class. Tell a friend about Impact 100 and bring a colleague to an Impact 100 event. When women attend an event and hear about the transformational grants that Impact 100 has awarded it's truly amazing how many of them join!  Recruiting for 2017 has begun - you can help us add to our new members!!!
We are moving one step closer to identifying the Grant Recipient Finalists! The Focus Area Committees have reviewed all the grant applications submitted and several wonderful nonprofit agencies in each Focus Area have been selected for a site visit to be completed by the end of May.  Following the site visits, each Focus Area Committee will recommend one or two finalists. The Board Finalist Review Committee will review these recommendations to select our 6-7 Grant Recipient Finalists.
You will have an opportunity to learn about and Meet the Finalists on June 28th at the American Sign Museum. Be sure to SAVE THE DATE!
I would like to share with you some comments from Easter Seals TriState Building Value, one of our 2013 grant recipients, in their final report on their program to expand its deconstruction program and launch a new lot stabilization and maintenance service.    "I wish I had the wordsmithing capacity to let your organization know what a tremendous impact this grant had on our organization and most importantly on the lives of the individuals we serve. Your equipment is currently hard at work finishing a job in East Walnut Hills. The deconstruction of this one house yielded 420 training hours, 50,000 lbs of repurposed wood and stone and thousands of dollars in resale items. And we could not have even thought of bidding it had we not had the capital equipment made possible by Impact 100's grant. Thanks again and please give all those lovely ladies a big hug from all of us at Easter Seals TriState."
I extend a 'digital hug' to you for your role in what we do! Be sure to give your mother and all women who have made a difference in your life a great big hug!  I look forward to seeing you at a future Impact 100 event.

All the best,
Donna Broderick
President, Impact 100

BIG! Impact Sponsor Highlight
Richter & Phillips Jewelers

One hundred percent of Impact 100 member contributions are utilized to fund grants awarded each year. Consequently, Impact 100 relies on the generosity of sponsors to underwrite our operating costs. Thank you to Richter & Phillips for being our BIG! Impact Sponsor for the 2015-2016 year!
Q. After 120 years, Richter & Phillips is moving to a new location across the street. Why the move?
  A. We are moving into a bigger and much better space. The new store set up will enable us to highlight jewelry and watch lines, as well as offer our customers a beautiful and comfortable environment for shopping.  The space will be terrific for hosting events and fund raisers for organizations like Impact 100.
Q. Graduation is just around the corner. Do you have high school and college graduation gift ideas?
A. Graduation season is one of our busiest times of year. For young men and women the most popular gift is a beautiful new timepiece or writing instrument. Obviously young women also enjoy receiving earrings, bracelets and necklaces for any occasion.
Q. Richter & Phillips is a family-owned Cincinnati business, which has supported countless nonprofit organizations throughout the years and we know you get a lot of requests. Why did you choose to support Impact 100?
A. We were most impressed with the impact they have made with so many nonprofits -they have awarded a lot of grant money! Also, we liked the fact that 100% of every member's donations are awarded to grant recipients so we our assistance is needed to help offset various overhead costs. Of course, Impact 100 members "are" our target audience so it is a good fit for us in a number of ways!
Q. Is there anything else you want to add?
A. We have had many Impact 100 members visit our store or approach us at the various Impact 100 events and thank us for our support. It is not often that you see this kind of widespread appreciation when sponsoring a nonprofit organization or event and we think it says a lot about the caliber of Impact 100 members!
