Live Streaming for Churches Course:

June 14-17
June 21-24

Contemporary Music Center
559 Church Street E.
Brentwood, TN 37027

The LIVE STREAMING FOR CHURCHES course is designed to help small to mid-size churches improve their “live streaming” services. But it’s also intended to connect pastors and technical staff/volunteers, away from the pressures of a worship service, so they can work more effectively towards the goal of communicating God’s word with excellence.

On those Sunday mornings when theology and technology collide, it’s usually miscommunication or misunderstanding that causes the breakdown. When pastors and technical staff/volunteers set aside time to learn more about each other’s worlds, the entire church body is strengthened.

Let the Band Play: Multiplying Disciples and Churches

Our first (OK, our only) trip to Paris had Deb and me checking into our Airbnb early in the evening. We were hungry so we went walking through the neighborhood when suddenly we heard simple, yet captivating music. We followed our ears to a quaint street with a few tiny cafes where a four-piece band was joyfully playing for a group that had gathered to listen.

As we were swept up in their music, I recalled a news piece I had seen previously describing groups such as this. The clip reported on a four-piece band that was part of the Orchestre de Paris, yet played in the streets far more than in the concert hall. Even more impressive was their commitment to teach ordinary students of all ages how to play their instruments. They encouraged their students to “play in the streets.” Their mission was to multiply music throughout the city.

My thoughts then turned to our mission as Christ-followers. The gospel is the most exquisite and transformative music under heaven. Our culture is starving for its melody, and we must multiply the band members who play it.

Local Church Initiative Grants Letter of Inquiry due May 31:

To further the goals of the Free Methodist Church USA and Gateway Conference, you are invited to submit a proposal that advances the opportunity for local churches to begin new initiatives that support these goals. Specifically, the Conference desires to support initiatives that engage the local church in the life and lives of the community in which they serve.

We’re excited to extend an invitation to prospective college students who are musically-inclined to join us on Sunday, April 25 for our GU Choir Concert. Students and their families will be our guest of honor for dinner before the concert. They will also receive a swag bag, reserved seating, and a post-concert meet and greet with members of our choir and music faculty.

Dinner will be served at 4:30, followed by the concert at 6:00 p.m. at the Greenville Free Methodist Church. After the concert, we will have an ice cream mingle. This will be a great time for students to learn more about the music ensemble opportunities at GU. To register for this event, click HERE.
