Our IMPACT Report

We are proud to share the immense, positive impacts that the
International Centre for Co-operative Management (ICCM) programs have offered the international co-operative community. Through targeted curriculum, diverse faculty and an integrated "living lab" approach to academic instruction, we have developed an approach to tradition business studies that is both industry-specific and has contributed to the overall growth of the co-operative sector.

As part of our commitment to education and research that has transformative impact with purpose, the Sobey School of Business is proud to offer programs that serve the needs of co-operative enterprises.

"In a world dominated by news stories of stock companies and quarterly earnings reports, co-operative management education provides you, your staff, and your organization with the tools and knowledge to effectively communicate your differentiated value proposition as a co-op or credit union: what it is and why it matters to your members and future members."- Paul Hanna, CMEC Board Member; Executive Vice-President Member Relations, Governance and Corporate Services, The Co-operators

That's a wrap!   Enhancing Business Performance through Identity, Loyalty and Participation was another huge success!

Led by Saint Mary's University, in partnership with the Co-op College. Hosted at the Co-operative Group.

This course tackled how to manage the co-operative equilibrium, building on the dual aspects of membership and enterprise embedded within the co-operative business model. Led by Dr. Daniel Côté, in addition to co-operative sector featured speakers, participants dug into case studies that helped illuminate major issues and opportunities for the co-operative business model (co-ops and credit unions).

Prior to Manchester, we partnered with Neighbouring Food Co-op Association (NFCA) in Greenfield, Massachusetts to  deliver this hands-on training course. The feedback and participant experience was fabulous, as noted in the NFCA's recent newsletter,  "The Executive Education course gave me a chance to step outside the everyday routine of running a food co-op and learn with other co-operators, including those from other co-op sectors," said Patty Smith, Operations Manager at the Willimantic Food Co-op (CT). "The focus on renewing our individual co-operative identities to stay relevant in today's marketplace gave me many ah-ha! moments, and I came back to work with an enhanced view of the big co-op picture, as well as lots of new tactical ideas to improve my co-op's operations."
