Each year, proceeds from events and other initiatives of the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation are awarded to programs making a difference in cancer research, treatment, and prevention. In 2024, the Foundation received 23 applications in the three categories of scientific research, clinical research and patient/caregiver support.
Through your generous support last year, $320,000 was awarded to eight organizations across the country, with the largest gift supporting research here in our home state at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Other grant recipients include the Patient Navigation Center at the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, the University of Michigan’s research in colorectal cancer patient care, Team Phoenix at Aurora Health Care, Children’s of Alabama research grant, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA of Greater Waukesha County and Hopecam Inc. Thank you for your partnership!
Applications for the 2025 grant cycle are open through the end of July. Later this fall, the grant applications will be reviewed by our Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) to make recommendations to our Board of Directors for final discussion and approval.
A special thank you to the oncology experts who volunteer their time on the MAC to conduct a thoughtful and comprehensive review of the grant applications to VLCF: Dr. Jamie Aye, Dr. Nathan Gossai, Dr. Wesley Papenfuss, Dr. Rachel Phelan, Dr. Monica Thakar, our patient advisor Amy Sapien, and MAC Chair and Board Liaison Jennifer MacDonald.
With the main source of cancer research funding on pause, our support is more vital than ever this year. Together, we can help close the current funding gap and ensure essential research continues uninterrupted, driving progress in the fight against cancer.
All contributions to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation made before July 31 will be included in our 2025 grant cycle. Click here to donate now.
