Executive departments and agencies of the federal government will be closed on Thursday, January 9, 2025, in observance of former President Jimmy Carter’s memorial. Given this closure, appointments scheduled on January 9, 2025, including visa appointments at U.S. Consulates abroad, will be rescheduled.

Further, immigration applications will not be accepted on that date and the closure will likely impact the processing time of Labor Condition Applications (LCAs), which are part of H-1B, H-1B1 and E-3 applications.
