Dear Impact100 DC Members and Friends,

The graphic above says it all, and we are thrilled!! All of our numbers are up, and of course the key jump is 30% in membership numbers and therefore in grants dollars! This growth is due to the dynamism and commitment of the Board and of the entire Impact100 DC community, and I am very grateful to every individual who played a part.

I want to focus for a moment on the word community because it is central to every aspect of what we do. We know from our strategic plan work why women join Impact100 DC. They want to better understand the unmet needs in our community and the work that is being done within the nonprofit sector to address those needs. They want to expand the impact of their individual contributions through the pooling of resources with a community of others who share the same mission and vision. They appreciate the opportunity within our Impact100 DC community to expand their own individual networks. And we have heard over and over that they appreciate being a part of a community of diverse voices to which they can contribute and from which they can learn.

There’s more: Our organizational strength continues to increase through partnerships with community organizations. That includes building supportive relationships with our grantees, developing mutually beneficial relationships with corporate partners and sponsors, and collaborating with local organizations whose missions resonate with ours.

So as we embark on another year of grantmaking, let’s take this moment to celebrate all of the intersecting dimensions of community that make us who we are at Impact100 DC.

Best,

Ann Vaughn

President

Exciting news: Two $100,000 Grants in 2025!

We’re thrilled to announce that in 2025, Impact100 DC will award two high impact grants of $100,000 each! Thanks to YOU, our members, we doubled our ability to drive meaningful change in our communities. These grants amplify the power of every $1,000 contribution, empowering local nonprofits to significantly expand their impact.

We will divide the remaining $10,000 among our other finalists to support their important work.

Strategic Plan, 2024-2027

In 2024, Impact100 DC partnered with Spur Local to create a three-year strategic plan as we aim to grow and make a greater impact throughout the DC region. The plan outlines five strategic goals: (1) grow and diversify our membership to support more local nonprofits, (2) increase awareness of Impact100 DC with potential grantees and members, (3) design and implement a successful and sustainable leadership succession, (4) refine the grantmaking process, and (5) increase sustainability by growing our financial capacity. While there is important work to be done, we’re very gratified that a lot is already underway!

BEST Kids Impact Grant 6-Month Progress Report

BEST Kids mentoring program is making significant progress on the mental health initiative we funded. They have substantially increased their capacity to provide critical mental health services and support to at-risk and foster care youth, families, and mentors. Here’s what they’ve achieved so far:

  • Hired their first Mental Health Specialist.
  • Created a mental health curriculum, “Out of the Box.”
  • Conducted one-on-one and group wellness sessions to promote mental, emotional, and physical health.
  • Introduced activities such as journal prompts, drawing, music and movement, and support circles to help mentees identify and express emotions, foster belonging, and reduce stigma.
  • Hosted monthly training sessions for mentors and caregivers, offering guidance on recognizing warning signs, improving communication, and strengthening connections.

Already, BEST Kids youth have shared that their mental health sessions provide eye-opening, safe spaces that create a sense of belonging.

Next up: An “Out of the Box” Mental Health Expo on May 17, featuring movement, crafts, journaling, discussions, and affirmations.

Watch for more information about how you can get involved!
