Dear members and friends:

I’m sure you think the summer months are quiet for Impact100 Martin, but nothing could be further from the truth! Let me share a bit about our key accomplishments over the past few months and offer some related color commentary.

  • Signed contracts with all our Grant Award Recipients and paid their first installments. “Signing Day” is fun because we are handing the Grant Award Recipients real checks to get started. Did you know that each contract is tailored to the nature of the project, with different payment installments matching key deliverables?
  • Elected the Board and Officers for 2024-2025. We welcome Judy Zanchi to the Board as Ann Barwig’s Co-Chair for Membership. Many thanks to Lisa Goodmaster for serving so effectively in that role last year, making a huge impact!

Our officers for the new season remain the same:

  • President: Maureen Cotter
  • Vice-President: Sue Whittington
  • Secretary: Kimberly Rosen
  • Treasurer: Genevieve George

  • Conducted a half-day strategic planning meeting. This longer session gives us time to reflect on what to preserve and what to change in the next season. Next month’s President’s Letter will focus on our top three strategic imperatives for 2024-2025.
  • Reached out to new members who have expressed interest in serving on a committee. We are largely a volunteer-run organization and couldn’t do it without all the women who serve on a committee. While we always make the appeal for more committee members, our newsletter for the next two months will focus on some specific roles we need to fill.
  • Secured dates and locations for the Kickoff and Grant Awards Celebration. I won’t steal their thunder here, so please read the article from the Events Committee announcing our Save-the-Dates. We also have an exciting Keynote Speaker for the Kickoff, but you will have to wait until August for that announcement.

I could go on, but you get the picture. We are so excited to begin planning for Season 8, the year we will exceed $2 million in grant awards to local nonprofits. I am so impressed with all the work our Board and their committees have done during the “quiet months” and look forward to sharing more details with you throughout the summer. I hope you enjoy great times with family and friends, wherever you may roam.

With gratitude for your generosity no matter the form it takes,

Maureen Cotter, President

Please save the dates and join us as we Kickoff the 2024-2024 season at the Kane Center on evening of Thursday, November 7th!

It’s also not too early to put our 8th annual Grant Awards Celebration on your calendar for the afternoon/evening of Wednesday, April 9th at Temple Beit HaYam.

Several Impact100 Martin members were on hand to witness the ribbon cutting of Healthy Start’s, Maternity on the Move “MOM Mobile” last month. The Impact Grant funded project will certainly make a great difference in the health of local women! More information can be found at www.mchealthystart.org/MOMMobile

HELP WANTED: We need Community Captains to host Meet and Mingle events in several communities in Martin county.

Community Captains are the cornerstone for growing our membership in Impact100 Martin. As a Community Captain, you will be asked to do the following:

  1. Commit to invite friends and neighbors to 1-2 Meet and Mingles at your home or clubhouse. The Membership and Grants committees will send a representative to make the actual Impact100 presentation. You just invite potential members and hostess the Meet and Mingle.
  2. Attend the evening Community Captains kick-off event on Wednesday, October 2 at 5:00 pm. We will announce the location soon.
  3. Deliver New Member bags with the nametag and car magnet to each new member in your community after they join. The New Member bags will be provided to you.
  4. Review the Membership list monthly to be sure those who have said they will sign up actually join and that the 2023-2024 members in your community renew for the 2024-2025 year!
  5. Promote Impact100 Martin in any of your community email groups, Facebook groups, community newsletter, poster, etc. if it is allowed.

It’s not much work to be a Community Captain and it is very rewarding when you socialize with like-minded members in your community and carpool to Impact100 events.

Please reach out to Judy Zanchi or Sarah Murphy at communitycaptain@impact100martin.org to learn more!

Membership Payment: More and more members are paying their annual membership using their Donors Advisor Funds, Charitable IRA or corporate matching funds. If this is how you are or would like to pay your membership, please make sure to have the financial institution include your name either on their letter that accompanies the check or in the memo line of the check so that we can ensure it is recorded correctly.

A powerful and unforgettable story of female strength and the triumph of the human spirit. — Pam Jenoff, author of The Diplomat’s Wife and Code Name Sapphire.

A timely story…of two strong minds coming together in the name of justice and equality.”—Sadeqa Johnson, author of The House of Eve.

Impact Book Club brings together Women With Opinions to discuss what they love (or hate!) about books that are great reads, but also make you think. If you’d like to join moderators Jill Preston and Linda Weiksnar on August 5 as we discuss the novelist and the novel, please RSVP by clicking on the link provided.

As always, although the event is informal, please make sure you have read the book if you plan to attend. The event is held in the private home of one of our members; the address will be provided to all who RSVP by August 2, 2024. And if you can’t make this one, don’t fret – we’ll announce another book after the August event!

Please bring your own beverage.

Joanna, originally from Wisconsin, developed a love for Florida during childhood visits. She moved there to work in assisted living when relatives acquired facilities in West Palm Beach, later managing a high-end jewelry boutique in Palm Beach Gardens. She met her husband John, a Pittsburgh native who came to Florida via Virginia, finding they had much in common.

After Joanna earned her master’s in clinical psychology from Duquesne University and John completed law and MBA degrees at Emory, they returned to Florida's Gold Coast. Their law firm focuses on wills, trusts, estates, and business succession planning, emphasizing generational planning. Joanna serves as Client Outreach director, enjoying client interactions and helping them achieve their goals.

The couple is deeply committed to family and community. They're parents to teenage son Jack and support numerous local charities, including Meals on Wheels, the Humane Society, Molly's House, Project LIFT, the Arts Council, Operation 300, and House of Hope. Joanna is also active in the Junior League of Martin County.

Joanna balances her professional life with personal interests, including cycling, cooking, and travel. She's involved in her club's Social Committee and looks forward to an upcoming trip to Italy.

Joanna recently joined Impact100 Martin, excited about the organization's community impact. Her diverse background and passion for helping others make her a valuable addition to the group.
