March 2024

Dear members and friends:

YOU DID IT!! At the Kickoff in November this year, we announced a goal of 400 members for the 2023-2024 season and you made it happen! Due to your generosity in joining, renewing, and referring friends, we are thrilled to announce that for Season 7 we have more than 410 members and are still counting.

For the first time, we will be awarding four Impact Grants at the Grant Awards Celebration on April 18th. What a sensational accomplishment!! The Board of Impact100 Martin thanks you, as does the nonprofit community as we continue to invest in a brighter future for Martin County.

So, who will receive the Impact Grants? Well, that’s up to you. Remember, a key part of the Impact100 model is “one woman, one vote.” Watch for a Special Edition Newsletter on March 29th when we announce which projects were selected as our finalists and provide instructions on how to vote, either in-person at the Grant Awards Celebration or in-advance, by absentee ballot. Either way, please vote!

Please take a minute to read this newsletter for information on how to register yourself and your guests for the Grant Awards Celebration. We still have other member engagement events, ending with our May 2nd golf outing at Mariner Sands. All these events are a great way to introduce friends to Impact100 and invite them to be part of our growing, thriving chapter. You know how to spread the word … you sure did it this year!

In addition to you, there are so many people to thank who serve on our Board and Committees as well as business sponsors, but I will save that for the Grant Awards Celebration. I hope to see you there … we have a lot to celebrate!

With gratitude for your generosity no matter the form it takes.

Maureen Cotter, President

Registration is now open for Impact100 Martin’s

Project LIFT Pathway Academy Graduation

In 2018, Project LIFT received an Impact Grant to launch a new program called Pathway Academy of Innovation to provide at-risk teens with an alternative way to obtain a high school diploma as well as vocational skills.

Each year since then, students have been able to transform their lives and earn their high school diploma. On February 21, 2024, several Impact100 members were touched as they attended the Pathway to Innovation Graduation ceremony at the Kane Center. Forty-one students saw their hard work and diligence in the Pathway Academy pay off that night as they received their diplomas. Being there to hear personal stories of success made us thankful that Impact100 Martin was able to contribute towards that transformational program! Project LIFT also did a nice job of acknowledging our support.

Kiwanis Park Ribbon Cutting

It was a beautiful Saturday morning when hundreds of children began the use of the Kiwanis Park playground structures after an exciting ribbon cutting took place!

Kiwanis Club of Stuart was a 2023 Merit grant recipient of $33,000 for the 7-12 Impact Playground which provides physical activities for older children.

President Maureen Cotter and Grants Co-Chair Joan Gibbons were on hand along with dozens of Kiwanis members, local Commissioners, and some of the most excited children you’ve ever seen!

Take a look at the photos which will certainly bring a smile to your face.

NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A GOOD MORNING AMERICA BOOK CLUB PICK -- An evocative drama about a woman caught leading a double life after one husband murders the other, and the true-crime writer who becomes obsessed with telling her story—this masterful work of literary suspense marks the debut of an extraordinary new writer!

"Fantastic . . . A sweeping novel, unflinching and evocative in its engrossing study of love, motherhood, sex, Mexico, journalism and more." — WASHINGTON POST

"Masterful . . . Elegance, darkness, even fear are deftly intertwined . . . A wonderful read." — LUIS ALBERTO URREA, Pulitzer Prize finalist and bestselling author of The House of Broken Angels

"A gripping and thoughtful exploration of motherhood and marriage, the complexity of female desire, and the consequence of our obsession with true crime . . . One of the best suspenseful dramas I’ve read in years. An exceptional, stunning debut—I absolutely loved it." — ASHLEY AUDRAIN, New York Times bestselling author of The Push

As always, although the event is informal, please make sure you have read the book if you plan to attend. The event is held in the private home of one of our members; the address will be provided to all who RSVP by May 3, 2024. And if you can’t make this one, don’t fret – we’ll announce another book in June!

At a tennis match in 2019 – Harbour Ridge vs Mariner’s Sands, two first time partners, bonded over their shared love of the New Orleans Saints and tennis. The ensuing years have found the pair stranded in Barbados in Covid quarantine for months with their families, attending vintage band concerts across the USA, celebrating Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest and Saints games in beloved New Orleans, road tripping to drop kids at summer camp, skiing out west, and oh, ask about one very special 60th birthday celebration…

Beyond the fun, Judy and Sarah have found a common interest in giving back to Martin County. Joining Impact100 Martin in 2020, prompted by an enthusiastic Sue Whittington, they immediately dedicated time to increasing Harbour Ridge/Riverbend Impact100 membership. In 2020 there were 7 members from HR/RB, for this year’s 2024 Grant year, that number has grown to over 75 HR/RB members. Prompted by Judy and Sarah, these Impact100 ladies get together with ladies from the surrounding communities of Evergreen, Tesoro, Widewater & Windstone to carpool to events and enjoy occasional get togethers and sunrises at Stuart Beach.

This year the dynamic duo also joined Lisa Goodmaster and Ann Barwig on the Membership Team as Captains of the Neighborhood Community Captains. They rallied current Impact Members in many communities to step up and lead recruiting efforts in their neighborhoods.

Like-minded friends using their shared interests to benefit the community showcases the power of common passions. Seems that they are a winning team for Impact100 Martin.

Ballentine Partners has an evergreen commitment to making our communities a better place, and we are drawn to the Impact100 model as a way to further our impact.

Over the last eight years, Jennifer M. Eaton, JD, Partner & Senior Client Advisor at Ballentine Partners, has been active in both Impact the Palm Beaches (Founding Member, 2015) and Impact100 Martin at the Member, Board and Advisory Board level and invested her time and resources to help bring positive change to Palm Beach and Martin County.

Jennifer and Ballentine remain committed to our partnership with Impact the Palm Beaches and Impact100 Martin. We hope to inspire others to invest in their communities and each other to harness the power of collective giving.
